Hi, ELA 7! I know it's been a while, but I have been super busy! I just finished a long-term position at Oneida Middle School and am starting a new long-term position at Mexico High School. Also, even bigger news: our new child arrived about a week ago! It's a girl, as you know. Her name is Karalie, or Kara for short. Life is busy, but fulfilling. I miss teaching at J-D so much! I hope you are all doing well there. I saw some of you at the mall, outside of the movie theater one day. I wanted to stop and say hello, but my wife needed me and I was in a huge rush. She wasn't feeling well. I hope to see you all again sometime.

This week your assignment is to choose a poem to recite in class next week from the packet I hand out. Your blog entry will also be based on this assignment.
In your blog entry, include:
We've been busy reading short stories in class over the last two weeks. Based on what you've learned in class and your own personal opinions, what makes a short story "good?" Outline your criteria first and then move on to these questions: Which story has stood out to you as your favorite? What about this story made it more memorable than the others?
Here is a list of the stories from class: "The Dinner Party" by Mona Gardner "Priscilla and the Wimps" by Richard Peck "Seventh Grade" by Gary Soto "Charles" by Shirley Jackson "The Open Window" by Saki "The Landlady" by Roald Dahl "The Sniper" by Liam O'Flaherty |
