As of January 30th, you have made it halfway through 7th grade at JDMS. For this week's blog post, I'd like to hear your reflections on the first half of 7th grade. What have been some of the highlights of your first 20 weeks (in ELA or otherwise)? What are your goals for your future as a 7th grader? I'm also looking for your comments on your reading progress thus far this year. How many books have you read so far? What ones have been your favorites? Be sure to proofread your blog post and check that it is at least 100 words.

In lieu of this week's blog post, I'd love for you to spend the same amount of time you'd usually spend writing your blog on the following website: _
www.freerice.com is a site that is devoted to donating rice to the hungry. What do you have to do to contribute to this worthy cause? Answer some questions about synonyms. I'd love for you to set your own goal for this week, but I think if we all plan to donate 200 grains of rice each, we'd make a great collective effort as a whole. How will I know if you've completed this week's blog task or not? To be honest, I won't! I'm trusting in you as a responsible citizen of our school community and the world that you want to do something to help others who are less fortunate than yourself. Take a moment and feel good about how you've spent your time on the blog this week! For this week's blog post (due January 16th), you need to respond to at least one other student's blog entry from last week. Go to last week's blog post in order to do this and click on "comments." You can then read what your classmates wrote last week. Your response needs to be at least five sentences or more in length and directly respond to what your classmate has previously written. What do you think about your fellow student's idea of a "perfect" world? Are there any flaws? Any ideas you hadn't considered? Any questions you have? Be sure to proofread your response prior to clicking submit. Happy blogging!
One of the most popular types of science fiction novels is dystopian literature. These books are set in the future in a society that is supposed to be more "perfect" than our world today, but ultimately has flaws. For this week's blog post, I'm curious what your "perfect" world would look like. Tell me in 100 words or more how you would change the world, its government, citizens, education, laws, and/or communities to make them function more efficiently and improve our society as a whole. Be sure to consider how your decisions could have a negative impact on the society too. Feel free to point out both the positive and negative aspects of the decisions you would make. May the odds be ever in your favor... |
