One of the most popular types of science fiction novels is dystopian literature. These books are set in the future in a society that is supposed to be more "perfect" than our world today, but ultimately has flaws.

I agree with Sydney. Taxes should not be allowed. Taxes make it harder for people with no money to buy necessary food and water. I also think the car idea is very smart. It would lower the amount of car crashes and in a way, higher our population. Now, the school idea, genious! I personally hate getting up early for school. Even if later school means staying at school until 3:30, I'd do it!

My dream world wouldn't be very different from the world today, but I would like to make a few changes that I believe would make the world a better place to be. First of all, I would change required length of the average school day. I believe too long of a school day is just a waste because all the students think about when the beginning of the day comes is I can't wait until this is over! Some students lose their focus after 6th period or so, but this could change with for example, a longer recess. Next, I would like to change the voting process when it comes to election time. All you see about politicians is what they're doing wrong, instead of what they are doing right. Everything is negative, which isn't good. I would make negativity illegal, at least in the state of NY, so there aren't so many negative things floating around. This is a small piece of my idea of a perfect world, and I believe it is the best.

I like this perfect world Matt, I think I would do all of these changes in society too. I love how you banded homework and let us have the same days off as we have in school. Although, big factories that let out dangerous gases to our environment are owned by very wealthy people. If they didn't have that job they could go bankrupt. Also, if there were no factories like that, than some of the things we have now, wouldn't exist!

In my perfect world there would be no such thing as war and, people wouldn’t hurt other people. The government would be very simple, there would be no one person ruling (sort of like todays government). Learning would also be similar but the starting might be a little later. The laws would again be very similar and simple, and i would do my best to make sure everybody was fed and had a nice home. The way everything in this society is set up there wouldn’t be very many negatives.

Sophie, I really like your world! But there are a few things that I would change about it. I don’t think that electricity should be powered by treadmills because like you said, people will get tired really easily and people have a lot of other things that they should do rather than running on their treadmills for a long period of time to power their houses. I like that you said there should be no money and people could just trade things or barter like they did a while back. I have one question though; do we have to ALWAYS be positive? Because everybody has to be negative at least once in a while! Overall, great job Soph! I really like your world!!

Kelli, I love your idea about roller coasters instead of school buses! I also love your idea about education being extremely important. The only part of your city that I would change is letting kids choose what they wanted to do in class. I know many kids that would take advantage of that rule. Those kids probably wouldn't learn much. Other than that, I would love to live in your city!

How would you go through with it? And there are many people who just want to cause chaos. And for the last part are you saying that the government can have different nationalities working there? Otherwise, great blog!

I like your ideas Alex, but there might be a few flaws. First of all, if everybody receives the same amount of money, wouldn't many people take advantage of this and not do any work? Also, if you take away drugs and cigarettes, you also take away the jobs of thousands of people that work for these companies. To add to this, I you take away drugs, how will people get cured from diseases? Finally, how do you plan to make all of this reality? I really like where you are going with this, just a few changes would make it flawless!

Great ideas Alex! I agree with a lot of your ideas like the part about drugs and making people healthy. However, I'm wondering how the government would be able to give every person in the world the same amount o money which probably also is a lot of money saying that it would pay for peoples hole life. also, how would companies be able to get money and stay in business, however, i guess that wouldn't really matter if there was no companies. I like your "perfect" world an I would probably live in it as well!

Great blog, Alex (cbc)! I thought your ideas were creative and very effective. I love the idea about drugs and cigarettes because they do hurt the people that use them physically and economically. I also agree with giving every person money once they are born, but what if that idea becomes true? If the people that were already born, don't receive money, then there would be a huge fight between the government and the adults/ not newborn babies. Overall, I thought your blog last week was awesome!!!

I think it is a great idea to give everyone an equal Amount of money when they are born. There is also kindve a flaw in that though people could just abuse the money and waste it all at one time on bad things like drugs. They would be left broke on the street with no homes or cars. This might cause violence and robberies so these people can take some money from other people. I would put some sort spending law into effect where you can't spend all of your money at one Time or you can't spend it on anything bad. It is also a good idea so there would be really no rich or middle class or dirt poor. This would stop a lot of scandals and many other things. In other words this is a great plan with only a few flaws

In my perfect world everyone would have a steady, reliable job to help them pay for whatever they needed. Also, I would set up community events so everyone felt like they belong somewhere. Games, food and fun trips would be weekly in these community events! Because, who doesn't love some food?! In my perfect world, there would be some flaws. As long as people don't get greedy, there would be no problems, but nobody is perfect, and there are flaws everywhere no matter where you go.

HI, Mrs.Stillitano a way that I would change the world would be to give every homeless person or family a home and leave them 50,000 dollars cash on the kitchen counter so that they can get back on their feet. i want to do this because one day me and my mother saw a woman and her kid sleeping inside an abandon gas station. I felt so bad and i always wist that I could help her in some type of way. If I was the presidant I change every homeless persons life. When i am old enough i want to start a charity to raise money and buy house for the homeless. It is depressing to see citizens in syracuse have to go through harsh cold weather and homeless don't have warm houses, beds,or blanket to cuddle up in. starting today I will try everything in my power to make sure that people have food, water, shelter, clothes, shoes, hat, gloves, scarf, and love. No person deserves to have to live a life when they have no one but them self. people who sees a person on the street asking for money digging in the trash anything that you wouldn't do you should always leave at least a couple of dollars so that they can buy them a sandwich or something that they really need.If you feel that homeless people are waste of your time think about if that was you or your family. But i will be taking it small foot steps at a time

What would my perfect world look like. Well, where do I start. First of all, there would be no dress codes in schools to sexualize young girls because "boys will be boys." Everyone has thighs, everyone has shoulders, girls have boobs, society needs to get over it. If a girl wants to wear a short skirt because she likes her legs, then she can go for it! People shouldn't shame girls for feeling confident enough to wear what they want. In my perfect world, homophobia and transphobia wouldn't exist. I feel that everyone can do whatever they want and say whatever they want as long as it makes them happy and as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. Everyone is different, society needs to get over it. In my perfect world, there would be no racism or sexism. Girls wouldn't be judged so harshly, all body types and skin tones would be accepted, and guys wouldn't be judged so harshly. A guy can wear a dress if he wants to and a girl can wear a suit if she wants to. The world is so judgmental and it needs to change. I want to be a part of this change. So that is what my perfect world would look like. I think the only problem with this world would be the people who stick to their judgmental and negative ways and refuse to accept differences. Other than that, I would love to live in this world.

I do not believe that there is such thing as a perfect society. When these "Societies" are created there are always problems that cause more. If I was to create a new and improved society though it would be very similar to ours today. Though I would make a couple of changes. I would make wars forbidden because if there are no wars than countries will not be able to harm the innocent people living in the other countries. I would keep our education the way it is except that the New York State Tests are not taken. This is because I think New York State Tests are useless and a waste of time. Also, there shall be no more hunger throughout the world, every grocery store must donate the food that they used to throw out because of its expiration date. These are the things that I'd mainly change in our society.

I completely agree with you, Emma! I also believe that there is no such thing as a perfect world. I thought it was very creative that you included cutting out the state tests because I also think they are a waste of time, but I never would have thought to mention them! I also thought it was great to say wars were forbidden because like you, I never like hearing about innocent deaths due to wars. It was also nice to include the part about ending world hunger because I never like to hear about child hunger in less fortunate countries. Overall, I think you did a really great job explaining what your perfect world would look like!

Hey, Emma! I really liked your idea to donate food that would normally be thrown out. I think it is a great way to repurpose the food and it gives the less fortunate more food, if it is donated to a food pantry. I also like your idea to ban state tests because the state test do not show our real ability. The state tests only show your time management skills. If we took the same test with an unlimited amount of time, then we would really be able to showcase our knowledge. In addition to those two ideas, I also liked your idea to ban war. Wars have killed and injured many innocent people and if wars are banned, there will be less casualties in the world.

My perfect world would be very different from today's sociaty yet would be very cool to live in. Our Goverment would be about the same as today except our citizens would vote for four presidents instead of one. The education system would not be complex and would have robot teachers,no grades or tests, and the schools would be made of 100% glass. To get to school, you use the teleporter that is within you neighborhood. Also i would improve the communities by having a force-field around every neighborhood to secure their safety, to get in the neighborhood, their would be a very specific password the people had to punch in. So their you go, if i had to change our current society in any way, this is what i would do!

My idea of a perfect world would be one without money. People could trade with each other for food clothing, and other items they need or want. In addition to trading, people can receive the stuff they need from work. Instead of earning money from your job, adults would create a reasonable list of items they need that week, and their boss would allow them to get those items, based on their performance at work. Say if someone was a teacher, their boss would watch them as much as possible, and view if they are teaching their students what they need to know. If the teacher did what she/he needed to get through that week, while putting in tremendous effort into their job, the boss will probably let them have all the things that they would need. You start learning your job (whatever you pick) when you are 16 years old. I have more up in my head about my “perfect world” but I have run out of time.

In a perfect world there would (obviously) be no, or low crime rates. There would be trees and grass everywhere even in big cities, and there would be minimalized pollution. There would not be a population problem because we have space on other planets to go to if needed. All government disputes like laws would be helped to be decided by citizens that have graduated from college. Schools and all things medical would be paid for by the government to make people happier and make people not worry about becoming poor. People work for money but most things are free or paid for by the government. Food will be given to everyone for free to help eradicate hungry people. A problem with this might be that people have too much freedom and might start to try an do something highly illegal, ex: uprising, rebellion.

I would also add a low tax amount due each month for the government to get its money. I think this idea would be a good thing for the world and would make terrorists and criminals re-evaluate their actions.

If I could change the world, its government, citizens, education, etc. I would eliminate all forms of money or value in property. I would make it so that every man woman or child is treated equally and given the same house, car, furniture, etc. I would also make it so humans would not have to work, but robots could take their places. This would eliminate all forms of poverty and many forms of discrimination. The only problem is that life would be very boring and simple. People would be stuck at home all day with nothing to do. Humanity itself would be put to a halt on the line of evolution and change would never occur in our daily lives.

I like the idea but it has a ton of problems in it. Though it is full proof, people would rebel against an immortal king, because if they didn't like your laws they would rebel. Also giving ten year olds jobs would not be a good idea. Say they had a disability and they couldn't work, what would happen then? Also if you didn't follow the rules why would you have to be killed? Say a ten year old didn't follow the rules, would you be a merciless man and kill them? Also if they had hybrid people, couldn't they get smart enough to plot against you if they wanted too?

Then certified teachers would grade the test and choose who may work there and who may not. Once elected they’d be supervised by different officials each year. With passing laws the government would also have to take a test to see if they understand what the law does and how it effects everyone. For education kids wouldn’t have to get up early in the mornings. High School students wouldn’t leave at 6:45 but instead at 8:45. Much like a 2 hour delay schedule. But they would go home at later times. Homework would be assigned for the week and be due the Monday of the following week. Students would be able to choose their schedule as well. But the things some may think are perfect others may think is chaos. Some people may begin to think these systems are corrupt and rebel. Government officials may become overcome with power and use it for bad and try to overthrow others. Schools may become out of line with friends together in classes after the students choose classes together. But with bad comes good and good comes bad. But no society can ever be perfect because there is always going to be a fault or two.

Great blog, Ryan! One question, though. Even if there is no Internet, wouldn't certain people have the materials to "recreate" the Web? Plus, what would happen if one little scuffle grew into a full-on war?

My perfect world would be one that didn’t make people pay a lot of money for different things. I think things like cable, phone, electricity and food should be lower priced. This would make people happier because they would save a lot of money. I would change education by making Fridays a day off from school. Schools would have more vacation days by having a week off each month. I would also have kids be able to choose what they want to learn about in school. Kids would get to make their own class schedules and never have to present in front of the class. I would choose to have world peace so that we all live in harmony. The negative to this would be the armed services people losing their jobs because they have nothing to defend. I would also get rid of all deadly diseases. I hope that my perfect world comes true!

My perfect world would be awesome. We would only have school Monday through Wendsday. The school lunches would also have to be catered by the closest five star restaurant. The school busses would be coach busses with heated massage chairs. There would also be no paper money everything would have to be bartered and traded for. This could stop many government corruption scandals that involve money and many other things. My decisions to barter May start up some trouble because some people wouldn't know the value of the thing they are bartering for and that may start some fights and drama. The police force, fire fighters, hospital workers and military personnel would all get special treatments and would get payed In small amounts of gold for there high valued work

My perfect world would be a world were nothing happened. People, animals, no life would exist. This would be perfect because there would be no one to break or harm anything and no bad people. Crime, pain, suffering, it all would not exist, so there wouldn't be any wars or anything bad. There wouldn't be anything bad about the society because there wouldn't be anything that could affect anything good or bad. All in all there wouldn't be any bed people so the world would be perfect.
