One of the most popular types of science fiction novels is dystopian literature. These books are set in the future in a society that is supposed to be more "perfect" than our world today, but ultimately has flaws. For this week's blog post, I'm curious what your "perfect" world would look like. Tell me in 100 words or more how you would change the world, its government, citizens, education, laws, and/or communities to make them function more efficiently and improve our society as a whole. Be sure to consider how your decisions could have a negative impact on the society too. Feel free to point out both the positive and negative aspects of the decisions you would make. May the odds be ever in your favor... |

We have an amazing government but there are several things, in my opinion, that we can improve. First and foremost I think every child deserves a great education, no matter where they live or what background they come from. In this society the more money that you have the higher the quality of the school that your child can go to. Better schools equal a better neighborhood which then effects the taxes that you have to pay. I think that the government should give more money to schools who have less money instead of providing schools that are already well off with even more resources. Having a quality education is critical because it affects the variety of occupations that you can enter, it affects the amount of income you have and it also allows you to have more stimulating conversations with peers/colleagues.

Great feedback and great questions! I would make the education changes gradually so people have the time to get adjusted. Along with getting the money distributed more equally I would also try to improve the neighborhood as well, with a family oriented approach so more people will move to the area. Besides education, I would also try to stop animal abuse. I think this is a very important topic but it flies under the radar a lot. I would attempt to try and stop animal abuse by working with other countries to set up laws and I would also try to break apart big companies that abuse animals in physical ways like dog fighting to vocal abuse. Along with animals I also think we should try to make the country better for the citizens that live here. Many come from rough backrounds and don't have things we take for granted. We could do this by really giving everyone a fair chance and not judging anyone for things they can't control. Still on a similar topic, many mexican workers try to get into the United States for opportunity and freedom, a lot of kids travel alone and many die because of the harsh conditions of crossing a dessert. While this is a very controversial topic I think that we should allow mexicans in that already have family in the states and that we should also give people the opportunity to come to the U.S. and try to make a better life for themselves and those they care about. One last thing I want to talk about is equality between race, religion and gender. While we have definitely improved as a country from earlier times when we weren't as accepting we still have negative topics and news reports appearing solely based on someones skin. I also believe that in the exact same circumstances a woman should get paid equally to what a man would get paid for doing the same thing. While this is also a controversial topic I strongly believe that everyone should be treated equally. I think if everyone respected eachother and treated eachother with dignity the world could be an absolutly incredible place.

Many dystopian novels show negatives that could happen in the future, but if Earth's future was in my hands, this is what I would do. I would change the education world the most, but not necessarily in The U. S.. In other countries many people don't have the opportunity to go to school or they are not aloud to! I feel many people take going to school for granite. I would let all the children's parents have jobs or not need their help at home during the school day. I would also let all genders go to school, it is still a problem in some countries. Something I would change about our classes is what classes we have. At JD we are fortunate enough to have health and home and careers as a class, but many schools don't. A viral video about how there is no reason to stay in school showed how many schools don't teach the actual everyday responsibilities of the real world. I would put home and careers and health in every school so that children will actually know how to write checks and how to eat healthy. That is how I would change the education of the world.

If I could make the world perfect I would make many changes. One change I would make is that there would be no wars and there was no fighting between countries. Also, I would make it so we would have longer days. In addition, I would have everyone employed and everyone made a high profit. Next, I would make it so if you are getting recruited I a sport, like lacrosse, they can start recruiting you when you were in eleventh grade instead of tenth and ninth grade. Lastly, I would make the change that everyone is treated equally no matter who you are. Overall, I would make many changes if I could make it a perfect world.

Kailey, I like your idea of a society. I agree with you in the fact that there should be no fighting. I also like your idea of the longer days so that we can get more done. My favorite idea of yours was that people should get recruited later for sports, that would take so much pressure off of student athletes and that way they can just enjoy their first few years of high school.

My dream society would be very different than ours. There will be absolutely NO fighting. In my society all people would be treated equal, there would be no race discrimination, gender discrimination, and everyone is treated the same. Also in my society boys and girls of all ages will have equal sports and academic opportunities. Also in my society the cities will be better. Also people will not be surprised if people from "the city" go to college or become a doctor because everyone has equal opportunities some people just don't take advantage of them or work as hard as some. Also in my community I want there to be one big school district so there are no rivalries. In my dream communities everyone would have to wear uniforms provided by the school so that no one is upset or embarrassed about what they are wearing and can afford and also so people can't brag about it. Lastly, in my community, I would make it so that all homeless kids, animals, and adults will at very least in a very nice shelter. I hope that many people will be willing to take some people and animals into their homes so nobody is without a home.

I also would love for everyone to have an equal chance at getting into college or getting a certain career, I love when things are fair. I couldn't dream of anything better in the world!

Also, I don't think I would do one big school district because we don't today, and everything works out. Also,I agree with the last thing you said about how people and animals have shelter in your dreamworld. You have many great ideas!

My perfect world would almost be amazing. Everyone would like it. Everyone would like each other so there would be no wars and killings. Everyone would be treated the same and our technology would be more advanced. A negative thing is that maybe some people would argue about our economy and how they are treating everyone. Almost everyone will become lazier because of our technolagy, but it already started when the hover board or the segway came out. I think the U.S. or China is going to be the mother country and have the most money. My perfect world would almost be amazing. Everyone would like it. I would wish for many things in the world to happen but it may not happen. I would wish for world peace and no wars or fighting. This would be great because dramatic things in the world would happen, such as the twin towers. Also I would wish for everyone to be treated equally and the same. This would help people's confedence. No one should be treated differently. No one should feel and insecurities about themselves. No one should judge anyone. You were put on this world for a reason and no one should make you feel worse for that. Also I would like a law to not not be mean to animals. They are living things too. They need a life too. I wouldn't like it if I was abused so animals should not feel that way either. Therefore no one should be mistreated,- this is not going to happen but it's worth a try!!:)

You are right, they are living things just like us and even doing something like putting an elephant in a circus is awful. When I wrote my blog post, this didn't come to my mind but now that I read yous I am remembering that even if it isn't happening around me, it is happening somewhere and it is just so horrible.

In my "perfect" world people would not have so many social media accounts such as instagram and snapchat. Our society generally depends to much on modern day technology, like phones, and laptops. We use technology to do our homework, to read books, to learn, to share our photos, and many other things. Sometimes I think it's better just to sit down and have a normal conversation with someone. Sometimes a text can be misunderstood, which can cause issues with friends, and anyone. Another things is anybody can pretend to be someone their not. There are bad people in this world, who can easily just press a button and talk to you as someone else. There are benefits to the advances in our technology though. Like using cars to help us get around, and using technology to help us learn and get our ideas out there

However there could be flaws because what if you are across the world from your family and best friends and need to talk to them you would need to call/text. Overall, very good essay.

In my mind a perfect “society” would be made up of many things. For example there would be no terrorism, racism, or gender discrimination and everyone would just get along. I think that the laws would be ok if they stayed the same as they are now. I would keep the education the same but I would remove state tests. Also in my “perfect” world I think everyone would deserve to have there own opinion and not be hated for it. It would be good but bad at the same time. It would be good because people should be able to believe in their own things. It would be bad at the same time because some people believe in ways that could be harmful to other people. In my mind that would be a "perfect" society.

A lot homeless people are homeless because they're addicted to bad things or made a horrible mistake in they're lives. If you give them money too quick they'll can either buy drugs and alcohol and run out of money again or make another awful mistake with all the money they have. I've actually put a lot of thought into this question before it was posted. My perfect world would be very dreamlike, I am someone who loves looking at sunsets, and takes in the beauty of the world. So I think that nature and the preservation of it, would be a priority for the government as well as the society. Therefore agriculture and farming would be valued occupations. I would also have people pursue their own dreams, unlike the Hunger Games which forces people to violently do things, and that is terrible. So my perfect world wouldn't be what we have today, or probably not in the future. To me it would be considered a dream.

My “perfect” world would have 18 major cities, one of them being the Capital. Besides those large cities, there will also be rural areas, as well as urban. The rural area will be used for farming and raising livestock for food. There will be factories in urban regions. The whole world will be one country, with one leader. The world will be separated into 72 equally sized “zones” and there will be one representative for each zone. Each zone representative will have a voice in government laws and decisions, as well as the right to submit proposals for laws. There will be one currency: euros because a large region of the world uses that now and it would be relatively easy to switch over. Throughout this big country, every person will be free to practice whatever religion they prefer without fearing persecution. Everything else will be the same except that there would be no terrorists groups allowed or wars, because it will be a law and everyone is part the same country. Finally, there is one last thing I will change: a lot less oil and coal will be used by increasing renewable energy. Additionally, the government will pay car manufacturers and designers to create all electric cars. Ultimately, this is what my perfect world will look like.

In my perfect world, everybody would have a job that pays the same amount of money. People would get to choose their jobs and would only get fired if they disobey the rules of that job. This way, nobody would be poor and nobody would be super rich. Also, everyone would be nice. No one would get bullied or anything. Nobody would know how to be mean because they would grow up with nice parents and good influences. The people would also get to choose their Officials. The Officials would get fired if they make very bad decisions or disobey rules. Otherwise, they would lead for 2 or 3 years. You would get to choose if you want kids and who you marry. But, you would only get to have up to 2 kids otherwise you would have to spend too much money.

You have great ideas but I would change a couple of them for my perfect world. One thing I would change is how much people get payed. I would not pay everyone the same amount in different jobs because some people have a harder jobs (like doctors) and others work at fast food restaurants. In our world, they get payed a totally different amount of money. Also, I would change only being able to have up to 2 kids because what if people want more? Otherwise, great job on the essay!

I think that letting people all have a job is a good idea and that they could choose what they wanted to do. I just have a question if everyone got payed the exact same thing, would people fight about who has a harder job? What if someone works really hard but another person doesn't and they get payed the same thing, is that fair? I think that having everyone grow up with good influences would help people get along better.

I don't think, no matter how for into the future we go, the world can ever be what one would call "perfect". My perfect world would probably have world peace for all. In my mind, a perfect world is a place where everyone is equal, and no world hunger, like the world today. As for education, I think everyone deserves a right to have a good education, and have a possibility to get any job they would like if they spent enough time on their studies. In the U.S, you have to pay to go to college. In French class, we learned that in France, you don't have to pay to go to college because they believe that nobody should have to pay for education. The people in this perfect world of mine would be extremely friendly, and not hurt any other being or animal. In my perfect world, the animals would be able to live free without any danger or harm coming to them. If there were a deer, I wouldn't hurt it just to eat it. The deer would've enjoyed its life much longer if it wasn't killed, than the taste of that deer that gave its life just so it could be food. (Yes, if you haven't guessed after that I'm a vegetarian.) The laws would be to enjoy your life and act safely, knowing that your decisions would affect other people's lives. Yes, I notice that this perfect world has MANY flaws, such as a plethora of animals if we didn't kill them. My perfect world would probably be boring, if nothing ever changed and everything was happy. Yes, my perfect world would most likely have many more flaws than I could possibly count, but, in my mind, it's a perfect world, and I'm okay with that.

Your perfect world sounds really great. I agree with you about world peace and ending world hunger. These are two big issues in society today, and in a perfect world, both should be achieved. Although it's true that animals would overpopulate, I think that not murdering animals for the sake of one meal is a great idea too. I'm not a vegetarian, but I certainly have the mindset of one. I understand hunting if you're starving, but most people I know have ample food. Why murder and kill just to have a tiny bit more? I also think that it's important that people not have to pay for college, and education in general. People from different backgrounds with different amounts of wealth should all have an equal chance at life, and expensive tuitions prevent that. But it would also be difficult for colleges to run without the funding they get from students paying tuition. Overall, your perfect world sounds like a really beneficial society, and one that I'd like to live in.

In my perfect world, education would change. Instead of one person teaching, their would be more. It helps the kids because one teacher can teach and the others can help the students. Although the school would have to pay more. Also, we should change the schedule so we can take more courses. We should include classes that will help us years to go. It will really help the students for the future. On the other hand, some parents would most likely disagree about the extra classes and should focus on the common core classes. Also, there might be too many teachers for the students we have.

If given the opportunity to change the world, there are several components that should be changed. First of all, government officials should make less money than their current salaries. These officials are often greedy. The money could be allocated elsewhere. Furthermore, no one should be allowed to give officials money. This would prevent corruption and bribery. There should still be a President, Vice President, and the other officials who keep checks and balances between each other. The government should remain a democracy. There should not be a large divide in wealth; no one should be extremely rich or poor. Class societies will still be present, but with less extremes. Wealth is dependent upon occupations. Social Service occupations are paid the highest. Merchandise services (such as grocery stores, fast food, and gas stations) are paid the lowest. Everyone will have a decent education. High school graduation is a requirement. Schools are divided into Kindergarten through fifth grade for elementary school, 6th- 8th grade for middle school, and 9th- 12th for high school. Languages are a requirement from kindergarten through 12th grade (at least English and one foreign language). People must go to college for good occupations that lead to full-time employment (such as teachers and doctors). The laws will remain the same as they are now, but less taxes on everything. The one new law that would be instilled is that from the hours of 11pm and 5am, all internet services will be shut down everywhere except in the government. Additionally, if you are immigrating, you must be investigated before entering a new country. The negative aspect in this society is divided classes because of income. There can be hostility among the rich versus the poor. The positive aspect of my society is the government making less money. They make too much money and need to be checked. Also, they have less chance of being corrupt without being allowed to received funds from others. Additionally, since everyone has an education the world to prosper efficiently.

Your perfect world makes sense, and I agree with you on many points. There are many negative aspects of our world, such as taxes, lack of pizza, and poverty, but some, like taxes and bills, are necessary evils. How will the government be able to support all of the people living in poverty without collected taxes from well-off citizens? How will stores be able to profit if there aren't any bills? However, I definitely agree with you on how people should be treated. If everyone treats each other with kindness and respect, many wars and disagreements could be avoided. I think that the changes you'd make are very insightful and smart, and I agree with many of them.

If I could change the world for the better, I would definitely make it more environmentally friendly. First, all power and electricity would come from solar, wind, and water energy. The cars would run on air using the force of the air to turn gears in the engine and make it run. The houses would have their own solar panels that made all of their electricity. Another thing I would do is allow people to choose the type of government they wanted to be ruled by. On the application to become a citizen, I would allow people to choose from a democracy, monarchy, communist, or dictatorship. Depending on what you choose, you would live in a certain province. No one would be designated as a leader unless you chose dictatorship. The leaders of the world would be everyone together, helping each other. I think this would cause a lot of chaos because people would disagree, but in the long run, it might work. Education would be mandatory in order to create a well-rounded society and an efficient workforce. In order to prevent sickness, every person would have a mobile device that tracked your pulse and temperature and would beep and then call an ambulance if something went wrong. My perfect society definitely has some flaws, but I don’t think there is such a thing as a “perfect society”.

When I wrote my blog I forgot about how I could make the "perfect" world environmentally friendly and I think that was a good idea. I also think that the mobile device was a good idea, I just have a question about it, would it be free or would you have to buy the device? I think the choice of government is a good idea but it could have a negative outcome such as one person trying to rule everyone. Overall I think your ideas for a "perfect" world were good ideas that could benefit our world.

I really like your ideas! You included lots of things I wouldn't have thought about. I especially like your ideas about the air-powered cars and the sickness prevention system. I have thought about solar powered homes a lot too, and I think it would be cool if a home could power itself with solar energy, wind energy, etc. I haven't thought about the different types of ruling before, but it is an interesting idea and very creative. It seems like you have put a lot of thought into this!

I agree with basically everything you said. I think it's a good idea to be more environmentally friendly so the earth and all its resources can stay healthy for longer. It would also be very smart to have a device that could tell if something was wrong with you. However, I don't agree with there not being one specific leader and everyone together leading unless you chose dictatorship.

In my perfect world, People wouldn’t be able to vote for president until they are 25 years old because at this age people really know more about the government by that age so they really know why they are voting for a certain person. Also, to make people safer, there would be a curfew and if you are still outside by that curfew, u must be with at least two other people. People may not like this because they wouldn’t have as much freedom to do things as much as they want. Also, if people didn’t have anyone to go outside with they couldn’t bo outside which would upset people. I would have a stronger army so there would never be any kind of attacks from other countries so people would be safer.

Samson I agree with you that people should be able to vote at the age of 25. This like you said makes sure the voter has knowledge about politics and both of the sides. I am concerned with how you would have a stronger army if we already have one of the strongest armies in the world and have nothing to make us stronger. I also admire your concern for peoples safety unlike other people.

First of all when I was reading this I noticed that you said "u" which is not the correct grammar. Also you said "bo" so I think you should read your response over next time. Okay, so I agree with you on the voting idea with age. But, I disagree with the curfew because if someone wanted to do some late night shopping and the other people didn't then they would have to wait for them. Also I think that instead of making our army better we should just not have wars.

In my “perfect” world I would make sure everyone had a chance at a good education. To make that happen I would make every college have a lower tuition so everyone can get a good education and get exposed to new and exciting things at the college they want to go to. It also helps the people who might have financial troubles get a better chance to getting in to their dream school. From there they can major in something they want to make their career out of and hopefully succeed in it. There are also some downsides to lowering college tuition such as, the fact that the more people who go to college and graduate will have to find jobs and we may or may not be able to provide everyone with one. If we can’t give them one then we will have a lot of unemployed people, which is not good for the community. Another part of my “perfect” world would be that nobody is starving, without a home, or purposefully hurt. To make this happen I would build a mammoth amount of shelters, food pantries, soup kitchens, Vera houses, and etc. all over to help people in need. I understand there’s also a negative part to building these buildings, which is that I will have to cut down huge amounts of trees to clear space. So to help keep a clean environment I would plant 2 trees somewhere for every 1 I cut down. In my “perfect” world I would also allow immigrants into the U.S. because they aren’t all bad so this would give them an opportunity to show us that they aren’t. I would probably let in the elderly and any children 3 and younger immediately because they probably won’t cause any harm. If they do then them and everyone else would have to be thoroughly checked of causing harm to citizens and tested for diseases. They would all have to be on some sort of probation or watch all the time till we know if they can be trusted and not try to attack us. There could many risks to this such as, deaths or over population but I think we should all support one another. These are only some aspects of my "perfect" world.

I really like your idea for lower tuition to colleges. I agree with the idea that everyone should have an opportunity to have a good life and a job that they love. Also, I like how you stated that there would be problems with the amount of buildings to help people, but you quickly provided a solution that would make everyone happy and the environment healthy. Lastly I agreed with your idea of the immigration. You gave a real world problem and provided a solution that I think we could use today and not just in your perfect world. You had a lot of great ideas and I bet we would benefit off of them in this not-so-perfect world.

If I could change the society (world) I would make it a lot more easier to live. For example, make things that are not as expensive, I would still have people work and have jobs.I would not make it like you don't have to work but I would make it that all jobs get payed more then now. Also that means that you could retire earlier. If I had to write a dystopian novel it would probuably be about how you don't have to work as long, but you get payed more. Also I would make sure things are less expensive so more people can get more things and enjoy more things. However, all dystopian novels have flaws in them. My flaws would be that if you don't do your job well and just be lazy then you won't be able to get as much money and just for the person that is not doing there job will have to pay more for things. If I had a dystopian novel it would be about that. However I would have the main character violate the rules and gets punished. In the society I would also have flying cars and cars that can go in the water like a boat.So you would be able to fly, drive and go in the ocean with a normal car. So when you go on a vacation you don't have to pay to go on a airplane you can just go in your car and it will turn in a airplane. However, there could also be flaws about that to because it could be dangerous flying in the air you could knock into another car flying to because there are no roads floating in the air. Also, when you land your car that could be dangerous as well.

I totally agree with the money part, people struggle. It's hard for people to keep up with food, homes and clothes so they should make things cheaper. I agree with the job part also the moneys not just going to come to you, you have to work for it. YES, people should enjoy everything the same.

I really enjoyed reading your idea of a perfect world. I liked your idea about flying, driving, and floating cars and have thought about vehicles similar to what you described. One thing I don't think would work was the job plan. I totally agree that people should make enough money to have the things they enjoy and be able to afford them, but if prices go down on items, the people who made them would probably get payed less, and the people in charge of them would get payed less, and so on. If it was done the other way, and the workers got payed more, the prices on items would have to be increased, and therefore they would ultimately have to pay the same percentage of their salary, just both numbers would be higher. I the rest of your writing though!

If I could create a “perfect” world, I would do many things. One of the things I would change would be in the technology, what I would do is have the persons phone not work of shut of if they were the one driving the car. I would do that because it could properly stop some car accidents from happening each year. This could be a bad thing thought because if they needed help the phone wouldn’t let them call for help. Another thing I would change is a law; one law is that people that drive motorcycles don’t have to use a helmet but I would make it a law because think that if they did it would be safer. If this did happen some people wouldn’t like it that they were forced to wear a helmet, they might think that they are in charge of their own body and safety. Some thing else I would try to change would be that all communities got along and there was no fighting or anything. I’m not sure how I would do that so that could be a negative thing, because you cant force someone to get along with someone else if the don’t want to. By doing some of these things I would try to make a “perfect“ world but when people try to do this but they end up with some flaws no matter what.

For my “perfect” world, I would focus mostly on equality. In this perfect world of mine, there can’t be any stereotyping, racism, or inequality towards genders. Anyone who does so, would be executed, which would make it a dystopian society I guess (good thing I’m not becoming a world leader anytime soon). All citizens in this world would be treated equally, even if there is a variety of different people in this world. Everyone gets an equal shot at education no matter what and can chose what to do with the knowledge they gain. My perfect world focuses mainly on equality because the world we live in now, isn’t very equal.

There would be an education in every town. there would still be a government to keep the world in order. There will always be job openings. There would be no bad people. It is not easy for the world to be perfect. The main/biggest thing that I would do if I were running the world is I would fire EVERYONE, and start from complete scratch. EVERYONE would have a home but would have no work. So there would be a program for everyone that supports them a gives them money but then they have to pay it off so basically going into debt. I think that starting from scratch would be really good because there would be more freedom and no more terrorists and everyone would be treated fairly. Only if that could happen today because there are a bunch of terrorists, also there is no religious freedom in some places and I have a bad felling that it is going to spread and there will be little to no freedom.

My perfect world would change our world in many ways, which provide many positive and negative effects. My perfect world would have free medical care. This would help everyone in the world because most people need to pay for their medical care. This means medical health care professionals would not make as much money. Another way I would change the world to make it perfect is I would have homeless people with a roof on their heads and have food. Everyone should have a place to call “home” and have the right portion of food to not go starving. Another perfect aspect I would include in my perfect world is that people would have education/have the opportunity to be educated. Not everyone in the world has the opportunity to have education where they live and in my perfect world, everyone would. A con in the education would be competition of jobs.

My perfect world would be great. We would have the same government. Also, I would make everyone go to school. The minimum would be 4 years in college and after then it was optional to continue. There would be a law that only liscenced police men and active veterans could have guns. Everyone of all cultures would be allowed but if you killed somebody then you would be killed. If you killed more than one person then your entire family would be killed. Every decision would go through me and I would decide if it was right. The only thing that seems unfair is the part that says if you killed more than one person, you entire family would die. I believe that killing the entire family is unfair because the killers family does not always influence the acts of their relatives. I believe that the killer should be forced to work as a janitor or something even worse for the rest of their life, instead of persecuting their entire family who did nothing. Overall, I really like your perfect world and I want to live in it if it ever becomes real.

While you definitely covered some critical issues in the world like gun control and education, I personally don't exactly agree with your logic. You didn't explain how you would do all of the things you stated in your blog. One example would be that you would make everyone go to school, The reason many people can't go to school is because of the lack of financial support, If you made everyone go to school you would have to lower the price of education, while still giving teachers enough money to make a living off of. Another thing I don't agree with is your interpretation of how you would create a law that would enable your whole family to be killed, if you killed someone. I don't think it's right to kill an innocent family, which probably consists of children who did nothing wrong. It is definitely horrible to kill someone but it is even worse to kill more innocent people for the horrific decision someone made to end another persons life. One last aspect of your perfect world that I think I need to talk about is the political part. Being a democracy and electing representatives has shaped our world completely into a very successful country. If one person was to rule, I think the people of the U.S would rebel which could possibly cause another war which we can't afford. In conclusion you did a great job by covering main topics that our essential to being a better country but I think next time you should explain your reasoning just a little bit more.

A couple weeks ago, we learned about the massive drought in California. My family recently received a letter from Rescue Mission asking for donations for the needy. I just read an article about how hundreds of millions of people go hungry. What if there was a way to solve all of these problems? What if each person was provided with an equal number of resources, and the government monitored their water usage so that nothing will be wasted? Then droughts, poverty, and hunger would never be an issue. After much thought, I decided that if I could design the perfect world, everyone would be equal, and no one would be wealthier than anyone else. Therefore, this type of society would be beneficial. However, there would be a few negative aspects. If everyone has all the resources they need at their disposal, they may take it for granted. Many wealthy people in our society worked hard to get to where they are. If everyone had an equal amount of wealth, no one would work hard, and nothing would ever get done. Additionally, I doubt anyone wants the government breathing down their neck, monitoring their every choice, whether it's water usage or eating habits. Ultimately, I think that a perfect world is impossible. No matter how hard we try to fix the world's problems, a new issue will always arise. Although society today may have some flaws, nothing is perfect.

My perfect world would consist of many things that we definitely do not have in our regular world. First off I would change the government and the way we are “ruled”. In my perfect world, there would be just one president. Once that person passes away, say it was a man, the next president would have to be a woman. This would make life a lot easier. In my perfect world the communities wouldn't change much. Really I’d just want everybody to friends and be happy. One law that I would change would be nobody would be allowed have guns in their house. This is because in our world today some people ,not all, that have guns end up using it to harm or hurt others and that is devastating. So, with not being able to own guns, our communities and nation would be a lot safer. Yes, some of these ideas that I have other people wouldn’t agree with, but that’s what I think would make our communities and society better as a whole.

My world would have a different soure of energy more safety better education for kids and better health. Gas is what we use to power everything in our lives. But burning fossil fuels and gas polluting the air would make the polar ice caps melt and if they melt ocean levels will rise. If we find a different source of power it could save our world. Also I think we need more protection on our biggest cities because if ISIS or anybody else bombs our biggest cities it will cost thousands of lives. But if we do get more protection we wont have to worry about anything. Education is getting bad with common core. I think if we get rid of Common core then kids would like going to school. We also need cures to Cancer, Alzheimers, AIDS, and ebola because those things are taking a lot of lives. Also if we find a cure for each of these we will be saving lots of lives. I think that is what we need to make a good U.S.A.

Would they decrease the amount of protection in them, or would they not have any which would cause chaos and worry if they were to become the new targets?

Protection is also something the world needs, but how would we do it? Would we do something general like have an army of guards? Would we build barriers? Common Core should be erased from every school system. Finally, I also strongly agree that we should keep striving to find cures for those diseases.

First off, thank you because I need the odds in my favor for this blog just for a 100. Anyway, I think that to start off fixing the world to make it perfect, we need to all speak the same language. If everyone speaks the same language then no one will have to spend time learning other languages and there will be no important things lost in translation. Also, There should be one government for the world so people don’t waste time people, and money in stupid wars. Also there should be a law that says that people have to work till 50 or unless they’re women with children so that the economy like in greece doesn't go bankrupt. If people get money to retire before 50 I think they should just suck it up and keep working because of everyone else.

Good job covering some essential topics. While everyone speaking the same language would probably be helpful, I think the population is way too big to try to make everyone speak the same language. The law where everyone has to work until 50 sounds like a great law to have so everyone learns how to work hard but you also have to consider people who have more difficult jobs, such as being a police officer or fire fighting.

I agree having a common language is helpful, but that is entirely unrealistic. You would lose everyone's culture. That would make the world entirely boring and sound like the Dark Ages again. I do believe a common language should be had, but other languages should still be encouraged. You can't ensure that everyone sticks to one language. People should be allowed to retire when they want to. If they have the means to retire, they still would be contributing economically to the government.

In my perfect society, education would be different. Everyone would get a basic education, but then to go to a specific school to learn their craft, but this might be a problem if somebody changed their mind about their career. Citizens wouldn't be allowed to own guns or weapons because that could be potentially dangerous. People and countries would have to work things out without violence, but then countries who saved some weapons would be in a position of power. There really is no such thing as a completely perfect world, because people have a mind of their own and think different things.

A perfect world is virtually impossible, but your idea came really close! Gun control is definitely an important issue, and I think that getting rid of weapons altogether is a great idea. A violence-free society would force countries to be more peaceful, as long as, like you said, no country preserves their weapons. This would also solve many of the world's problems, like national debts because there would be no purpose in funding a military. Overall, I think that's a very good perfect society, and I like how you supported each of your ideas with a pro, but then objected to it with a con.

My “perfect” world would have no popularity system, so there would be no nerds or lord. Also, unlike in the Uglies, the distopian lit circle book I read, no one would have to get an operation to turn pretty because they already are. Also, there would be no richness or poorness, everyone would have jobs or income and everyone would get payed the same amount of money. The government would send the money to us every week. Also, there would be a limit for what things cost, so it wouldn’t be like one thing is one dollar and a different thing is five thousand dollars, there would be a limit. Another thing in my perfect world is that at age five, you would start learning how to ride a hoverboard, and at eight, you would learn how to drive a hovercar, but you can’t get your license or your own hovercar until you are ten years old. Lastly, kids would get an iPhone at age two so they can contact their parents, and they would get the newest iPhone any time a new one came out if they want it, so they can have the best contacting device. Some negative effects of these things are that kids could have a very slim chance of dying at an early age if they were to drive at that early in their life. Also, the kids would get into popularity with having a device at such a young age. Also, the kids could get whatever they want, so they would be spoiled. As you can see, there are many positives to my “perfect world.

I agree with most of your "perfect" world and I think you have some great ideas such as, not having a popularity system and making sure everyone has a solid income. But I'm not sure I agree with having 5 year olds riding hover boards and 8 year olds driving hover cars because they probably aren't mature enough and could put themselves and others in danger. Adults still make bad choices in moving vehicles so for everyone's safety probably having 5 and 8 year olds controlling moving vehicles probably isn't the best idea. I understand that having a phone is important but I'm not sure a two year would really need one because they don't really do stuff on their own. So I would wait at least till their 10 and more responsible.

The United States of America has many flaws that could be adjusted to make the United States even better. These flaws that could be adjusted could have a positive and negative effect on the United States. One flaw that the United States has that I would change is to abolish marijuana in all 50 states. Another thing I would change is to bring back old method of teaching prior to the installation of the common core. Yet another flaw I would change is to take more tax dollars to create jobs that would fix the infrastructure in the United States. Next thing I would change is to fix racial relationships in the United States. One positive effect of my first example about making marijuana illegal is that states neighboring Colorado and Washington would save money and not have to spend it on marijuana cases. My other example about ending racial tensions has a positive effect of ending gang violence and discrimination about one person's religion. My next positive is about how the old teaching methods would take less stress off of the teachers and the students. In addition it would also make the teachers feel more comfortable and the students would be more comfortable learning. Positives about fixing the infrastructure is would create jobs, reduce poverty and unemployment, and would fix a big problem in America. One negative about banning marijuana is that people addicted to it may riot making a mess of their cities, towns, or states. My second example about taking away the common core and bring back the old teaching methods is a negative to some teachers because some teachers spent the last two years learning the new common core system and they would feel like it was a waste of their time. Those are some of my opinions that would make the United States flaws better.

For me a perfect world would be one with lots of advanced technology. With technology can come a lot of problems including weapons so for my government I would not have one, but instead have a nation ruled by the people’s good consciences. Also I don’t want people to be all the same race but I want them all to be treated equally because that would just make for a boring civilization along with a single culture that might get old after a while if it was just one race of people. For their education I don’t want it to be all technological implants to make someone a genius because they wouldn’t learn how to work hard and with due dates like a normal person would. Also there is the possibility of error in the implant because if the person who was implanted and made the formula for another person’s implant, then the person making it wouldn’t be a hard worker so he might not try that hard on the formula and mess up. Who knows, the person getting implanted might suddenly become an evil genius with superpowers.

In my perfect world it would be set in one big civilization during a zombie apocalypse. There would be education but not smart education it would be in guns and weapons to protect yourself from zombies. Everyone at the age 15 would go out on an adventure to explore the world and see what it's like outside the walls. The when they're 18 they can come back and they will be soldiers. Everyone will get around the town on dinosaurs. Some bad things are the dinosaurs might go crazy and kill people or evil people that know how to use guns might kill everyone. This is my idea of a perfect world!

While you covered several interesting topics I don't think you were thinking realistically and solving problems in the real world. While I am certain that if there is ever a zombie apocalypse you would be a perfect leader, I don't think we have to worry about that currently.

My perfect world would have a huge market that sells foods from all over the world in every state/province. I would have this because I got enjoy so many different foods when I went to Japan and Mexico, but we don't have those foods in America (or we just don't have the same quality of those foods. Our government would have the same laws, but the government would share more than they do when needed, but otherwise it's irrelevant what they don't tell us. I like the voting system just fine, and I think it's a fair way to pick our president. This may have a negative impact, as some citizens strongly dislike our presidents. I am also fine the education system, as I believe the state tests are a good way to see if our nation's future is in good hands. I don't think that citizens would get mad because they can just opt for the children not to take the tests. It would also help if the government donated more money to the lower class, instead of orginizations having to. I'm not saying the orginizations should stop donating, I'm just saying the government should take a bigger role in helping the poverty. To others this world may not seem perfect, but it is to me.

In my perfect world, there would be no diseases or viruses or sicknesses, etc. Many people die from these things, and it isn't fair. Murder wouldn't exist, nobody would think it was interesting in anyway, people just wouldn't do it, same thing with war, because we would all just work together to solve issues, instead of fighting and killing millions of lives. Also, money would not be a thing. Everyone would be born into a home, and once they grew up they would get their own home free of charge. I would get rid of natural disasters like tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanoes, etc. People could just enjoy their days waking up to beautiful sunlight and do whatever they pleased (well, as long as it's legal). Nobody would judge anyone, they just wouldn't have the ability to in their minds, everyone would just be equal to everyone, yeah you would have good friends and okay friends, but you wouldn't have anyone you particularly disliked or talking behind someone's back about. Resources would never run out, for example brick, gold, diamonds, wood, water or grass, they would just go to a store where people volunteered to work and just take what they wanted. If people wanted something, they could just take what they wanted. When people cut down trees for whatever reason, the tree would just sprout back up so that at least the animal inhabiting it would have a home identical to its old one. Also we wouldn't need to breathe to survive so we could go underwater for long periods of time, some clouds would be solid so we could sit on them and we would be able to fly. That doesn't help the world in anyway, but it seems pretty fun and I have always wanted to fly. Never the less, don't expect your life to be perfect, it just isn't realistic, everyone faces challenges at one point or another, whether it be just a simple fight with a parent, or losing your job, you are going to face disappointment. The best thing you can do is to just try your hardest to enjoy life.

My version of a perfect world is were everyone gets along and there is peace. Everyone will have a second chance if you have debt and the government will help you. And if you have an addiction they will help you get better. Everyone all around the world boys and girls will have and oppurtunity to go to school without being theatend. If terrorist strike and try to kill people they will get the punnishment that they deserve. Lastly this perfect society will be called Olivia

In my interpretation of a perfect world there would be no war and the economy would be clean and healthy. There would be no terrorist groups or criminals so people don’t have to have their home, country and lives ruined. All people could live in well run democracies and not dictatorships. We could vote and run a fair government no matter your religion, race or heritage. Everyone would accept each other and get along. It would also be a clean environment. No pollution and a lot of solar panels and windmills. We would rely on these as much as we can and not have to use as much harmful chemicals that hurt us today. This my interpretation of a perfect world.

First off, I like the idea of no terrorist groups, and that everyone would have a lot of freedom without fearing death or persecution because of people with outrageous beliefs (terrorists). Also, religion causes a lot problems in the present day. Would people be allowed to freely practice any religion? Or would people be seperated into different societies according to their religion, to prevent conflicts. Overall, I want to live in your perfect world

How would war be prevented? How would you prevent crime from occurring? How do you ensure cleanliness? How do you ensure enough energy from solar and windmills for the population? I agree that a democracy is the best way to run a government. There definitely shouldn't be a dictatorship. Freedom of religion is always a positive.

In my perfect world. It would be great and we are going to have more social media like what's up or instagram. And when you text your friends or anyone else and you want to tell them your feelings and they don't understand just call them to come over and then you can explain your feelings more easier and more details. And everybody would go to school. Also I will increase the money of the jobs and make them all the same like compaynes are having the same prices. And I will give books to every child who wants to read and learn more about his country and religion. There is relly no such thing as a perfect world because people don't think the same as different people and every doesn't like the same things as other people.

If I could change the world, it would be a better place. First of all there would be no racism, everybody would treat each other with equality. There would be no stereotypes to one group of people. Every single person would speak the same language so it would be easy to communicate with people. Also, everybody would be provided a home, no matter how much money they have. Finally, there would be no war because there would be nothing to fight over. Every single person would have a nice home, food, a job, etc. All in all, I would make many, many changes to the world to make it perfect.

My perfect world would be almost like the book Divergent in which there are different groups. The one difference between my world and the world of the book Divergent is that you rotate throughout every single group. Instead of just belonging to one group you would alternate groups and learn different life lessons in each group like survival skills. This would also improve society because of everyone knowing the same things so no one is smarter than anyone else which helps control the emotions of people living in this world. Some flaws of my world would be if anyone grew smarter than the regular standards then they could take over because they are smarter than anyone else. This also means the emotions of the people in this world would get so intense that they would refuse and start a rebellion against the leaders of the world they are living in.

If i could change the world many changes would take place because we live in a world far from perfect. First off I would get rid of the tyrants and other single rulers through out the world because that is unfair that citizens can't vote for their rulers and don't have a say in their government. I would replace those people with a democratic government because at least that government allows people to vote for their rulers. I would have presidents that would make fair decisions and not launch wars against other countries but people will still have freedom to say and write what they want. I would also try to convince terrorists to either stop terrorizing people or i would eliminate them. This would eliminate many problems that are wrong with the world.

My "perfect" world would be, a place with world peace. Nobody was fighting with each other. People had a good family, and everyone had jobs. I also would like for people to have a home, food, and money. I want children to have a good education, and that ALL people could go to school. I want people to treat themselves safety and healthy. I wish also in my perfect world for less crazy weather, like earthquakes and tornadoes. I want there not to be global warming. I wish in other countries, people were treated equally. Those are some of the things I would want in my "perfect" world.

I would do many things to make the better if I got the chance. In my perfect world, everyone would be treated equally. Everyone would get an equal, good education and get a job. Everyone would be required to have a job, but nobody would make money. In fact, money wouldn't exist. Everyone would be provided with all the things they need and would be given the extras they wanted to a limit. We all would live in equal sized houses in any shape we wanted, and we would be able to customize the house to fit our needs. If there was one person living in the house it would have one bedroom, one bathroom, an appropriate sized kitchen, and so on, but if there were multiple people then they would have more rooms and space accostomed to their needs. Everyone would grow up being taught to help others and be kind all the time, and everyone would love each other. School would be fun but we would always be learning. there would be no standardized testing, and everyone could learn at their own pace and have teachers that taught with the style they did well with. There would be different classes for different people. Finally, there would be something that made all foods healthy or healthy foods taste more delicious. Every meal would taste delicious and be eaten with kind, loving people all around you. There are many more things my perfect world would have, but this is where I would start.

In my perfect world,(blop) there would be no violence. Like the U.S. there would also be the freedom of the press, religious freedom, political freedom, and the freedom of speech. Our constitution would have 3 laws. 1. Be yourself 2. Have fun with whatever you are doing, and 3. Don't second guess yourself. That would be my perfect world, called "The land were your personality can shine-landia.

For me, a perfect world would include not having stress on me, school starting around 10:00am, disabilities to be curable, and just people in general being nicer, less annoying, and just simply being respectful to everyone and everything. Also just all of these terrorists to just stop what they are doing. Stress seems to always be with me no matter what because my parents consider me as "the perfect child" in my family which I am clearly not. I always have this layer of stress on me to do well in every little thing I do which can be hard. Also, being at dance at 5:00 until like 9:30 or 10:00 at night and also making sure I do my homework to the best of my ability and to try to squeeze in sometime for myself and friends can really stress me out. If school started at 10am I would be so happy! I never get enough sleep and it’s not healthy for me to go on with a full day with only like 6 hours of sleep. Both of my sisters do have some kind of disability and I am not going into detail about what goes on in my life but what I can say, it is hard only being 12 years old and pretty much taking care of my sisters who are 19 and 17. If I could cure there disabilities and other peoples, life would be so much easier. Something that I personally hate is people being rude to others. Someone could make one comment and another person could get upset by that so quickly. Sometimes in public, because my oldest sister has autism, she might randomly start yelling and people stare. Some laugh and or make comments and that upsets me so much. Something that has personally happened to me is people telling me I have acne and someone who I didn't know online asked if I knew what proactive was and that really bothered me. I realize I have acne and it’s not a big deal, everyone gets acne at some point in their lives, its normal! I really don't get why people have to do that kind of stuff. If people stopped bullying other people it would make millions of lives better. Hearing about what has happened recently in Paris is so sad. In my perfect world there would be no terrorism/wars/fighting. All of that stuff is just ridiculous! To some people, this world may seem everything but perfect but for me, this is my perfect world.

If I had a chance to change world's negative things to positive, first thing I would do is making everyone's life same. For example, the rich people and the homeless people from our world should live same. Like every homeless kid can go to the school. Some of them even don't have a food to eat. I would provide them an opportunity of having own car, own house and money. In my perfect world never will heppen a war. And I would add one more thing. It would be very hard but for being aducational I should do that no more playstation games to more xbox. If we add these things I think our world will be better. People gonna have a happy life.

In my perfect world I would have many things. For example I would have no wars, peace, and everyone would be loved. I wouldn't want everything to be perfect because ventually you would get bored of that. My perfect would would almost be like ours today. Except everyone would have a roof over their heads, food to eat and clean water to drink. Also I think everyone should be able to have an education so I would want everyone to go to school at least three times a week. As long as they have some education or knowledge.

My perfect society would have no homelessness or poverty, everyone would have a job that fits them and doesn't make them miserable. People would have freedom of speech and gender equality. There would be no racism or hate for people because of different religion. Everyone would have an opportunity for education and sports or music. Since there would be education for all, there would be no rapists or sick-minded people. Also, another very important thing in this society is that people will be allowed to have fun and dress how they want. Although we don't live in a "perfect society" we have it better than a lot of other countries, and those are the only things I would probably change.

My perfect society will be a world without violence and poverty. All people will be given the opportunity to work, eat, and live in a safe place. The government could separate into many places around the world and that would allow every person a chance to speak to that government and that could make them happy. The violence would be controlled, if needed, by capturing the angry person and find out what they are upset about. There would also be a punishment for what that person did. The punishment would fit the crime and they would have the right for a fair trial. The government would then try to change the way they handle that aspect, to make sure this wouldn’t happen in the future. To make sure poverty doesn’t arise, there would be thousands of factories as well as farms strategically placed around the world to accommodate everyone to a job that will gain them wealth. The government will not have all the wealth and not have all the power. All people would have one similar language to communicate with everyone and the currency will come to the most common around the world, Euros. There may be some flaws in the government to keep an account of everyone in the world. They could plan a rebellion to take down the government. That could be a major problem. Ultimately, my perfect society could make peace on Earth and accommodate everyone’s needs.

Thomas, your perfect world seems pretty, well, perfect. I like how there is no violence or poverty, but I especially like how you actually explained how you would prevent those things. I like how the government would be split around the world and everyone would have a chance to be heard. One question though, what do you mean by flaws to keep account of everyone? Nice world.
