I have read many books this year, but the ones that stand out are the Divergent series a sci-fi collection written by Veronica Roth, and The Hunger Games series also sci-fi and written by Suzanne Collins. I guess you could say i like dystopian literature. These books are both written about strong women who live in future society. In the Divergent a three book series (Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegient) Beatrice Prior also known as Tris, is the main character. She lives in a large city with walls burying the outside world. The city is separated into 5 factions, Erudite the geniuses, Amity the farmers, Dauntless the brave, the daring, Candor the ones that never lie and Abnegation the kind, which is the faction the prior family is currently in, at age 16 you choose your faction will Tris stay with her family what will her brother Caleb do? And the series The Hunger Games also a three book series ( The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and The Mockingjay) is abot Katniss Everdeen who lives in the country of Panem that consists of 12 districts where every year one boy and one girl is chosen from each district to fight in the games to the death only one victor will remain out of 24 in reminder that the capital is stronger than them so they wont rebel. These are my favorite series/books becuase they are written very well and i just love the story line, i would recomend this to people who like futuristic, romance/ action , and both of these series are fllowed by movies!

I think my favorite book that I've read this year would have to be a book called THE RELUCTANT ASSASSIN, book one of Eoin Colfer's sic-fi/secret agents series. In this book, a young American girl named Chevie is on an FBI mission in London, and ends up getting up to her neck in time travel, a boy named Riley from the 1800's, and an assassin, which is actually Riley's master, who is hunting them down. THE RELUCTANT ASSASSIN is a great book filled with action, magic tricks, and time-traveling. I would recommend this book to people who can keep several things straight at one time.

The book I have chosen is a work of historical fiction called The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. The book thief is about a young girl named, Liesel who lived in Germany during the time period of World War 2. The book shares the adventures of this girl. Also, it shows the joys and hardships of life. One reason I liked it was because the book is written from Death's point of view which seemed interesting and in the book, Death usually gives you a warning before a tragedy is about to come. Also, I liked the book because it reminded me of how kind and cruel people can and have been. I would recommend this book to people who can and enjoy reading big books. Also, this book would be recommended to someone who can read about sad things because the book might cause a few tears to be shed by the reader.

This year I read a lot of books, but my favorite would have to be the horror novel Lockdown by Alexander Gordon Smith, it was really well written and made me feel as a horror book should. The author did a wonderful job portraying the plot in an interesting yet creepy way. It had many unexpected events happen so it was completely unpredictable, I really enjoy this in books because it makes me think more about them. In this book, a kid named Alex is involved in some severe crime. He is constantly breaking into houses and stealing anything he can. This is his normal routine and he is never caught, until one day.... The punishment he gets is far more than he ever expected. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy lots of suspense and horror, it has some pretty creepy moments so be warned. There is also a little violence, so you need a little toleration of violence to read it. I think it was an amazing book overall though.

My favorite book this year would have to be Girl, Stolen by April Henry. The genre is Realistic Fiction. This book is about a 16 year-old girl named Cheyenne Wilder. But there is one thing different about Cheyenne. She’s blind. She falls asleep in her mom’s car while her mom is in the store. All of the sudden she feels movement and the smell of cigarettes fills the car. Her mom isn’t driving the car, so who is? Griffin hadn’t meant to kidnap Cheyenne. He just needed the car to use for parts. When Griffin’s dad finds out that Cheyenne’s dad is the president of Nike, his mind set changes. There is a reason to keep her. Now Griffin must help the girl escape without his dad finding out. Two reasons why I loved this book is (1) that it is always interesting. There is never a dull or boring part of the book. Another reason (2) is that there is a very unexpected plot twist at the end of the book that shows the strength of the protagonist. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes action-packed books. I’m not sure if a boy would enjoy reading it, but it certainly isn’t a girly book at all. It never hurts to try! That’s it for this week’s blog. Bye :)

My favorite book this year was the historical fiction Between Shades of Grey by Ruta Sepetys. This book is about a girl named Lina who during World War 2 is thrown out of her home by German Soldiers and she is through a very long trip to a concentration camp very far away from her home. She is separated from her family immediately and struggles to survive in this new environment. She eventually finds her family but is frequently moved from camp to camp. Some are worse than others but they are all very hard. She makes many friends and has to do things and make decisions that she thought she would never have to make on her own. Slowly she watches friends and family fade and wither away. She has hope for survival every day but she knows that it is futile. Will she and her family survive the hardship? I like this book for so many reasons. It is very sand and intense and I love it very much. It has many twists and turns and there are many things that happen that I did not expect. I recommend this book to people that like holocaust books. I also recommend that people who read this don’t mind reading sand books because some people may cry while reading this book with all of the death and sadness and all the struggles faced by Lina.

My favorite book that I read this year was Go Ask Alice by Anonymous. This book is realistic fiction, but no body knows if the author wrote it by herself or if it was actually what someone else went through. It all started when the main character of the book was at a party and was served a soft drink mixed with LSD in a dangerous party game. After a little while, she was hooked. Everything went downhill from there. She lost full control of her life, losing her friends, family and anything that was important to her. I liked this book the most because it introduced, to me, bad endings. Not all stories will have a happy ending, and like this one, not all endings are going to have a final conclusion either. Books will trick you sometimes, and never actually get to the end. The ending will leave you hanging. But it also makes the book so much more interesting. I would recommend this book to more mature readers. There’s a lot of language that some people might not understand or want to read. But it’s very truthful and detailed. Its reality, and a lot of people go through the same addictions as the main character did. It teaches you a lesson and shows you the consequences of drugs.

The best book that i have read so far this year is the Maze Runner by James Dashner, and its a dystopian novel . The Maze Runner is about a boy named Thomas who gets sent up in a black box with all of his memories completley washed. He lives in a place called the maze where there are Grievers who are trying to kill Thomas and the other people that are there. Thomas finds out about this thing called the changing which could bring back some of the peoples memories, but only if they get stung by a Greiver. I enjoyed this book since it has lots of cliffhangers which makes you want to keep reading, as well as a lot of action. The Maze Runner was my favorite book so far this year, and i would recommend it to anyone who likes to read dystopian novels, and people who like to read about action!

My favorite book that I have read this year was 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. This mystery is abour Hannah Baker's death. Before she commits suicide, Hannah makes cassette tapes and sends them to thirteen people who were some of the reasons why she killed herself. Clay just wants to know why he is on the tapes. He was always nice to Hannah when they worked together and, if anything, he admired her. Will Clay ever figure out why he was on the tapes? I liked this book because I used to love reading mystery books when I was younger, such as Nancy Drew and Cam Jansen. So, I was happy to read a mystery book because I haven't read one in a long time. I also liked this book because of the way that the chapters were broken up. Each chapter was one side of one cassette tape. I thought that it helped you to fully understand how Clay felt because you are almost listening to the tapes yourself. I would recommend this book to mature refers that can handle suspense and enjoys mind puzzles.

I think that the book Divergent stands out the most and was one of the best books that I have read this year. Divergent, by Veronica Roth, is an exciting dystopian novel about a girl named Beatrice. She and her family are selfless Abnegation people, her father a leader. Beatrice is 16, so its time for her to take a test to see which faction she is geared towards. What faction will be hers, and which will she pick. Find out in Divergent! This was my favorite because of its awesome story, and also the fact that it is a dystopian book. I also enjoy that it is a series because I can continue to enjoy the awesome plot and twists. Hope all who are reading this blog decide to read it or have already read it! 😁

This year on my reading record the book(s) that stand out the most are the Rot and Ruin Series by John Malberry, because those are the only books I have read by that author and because they are the only fantasy novels on the sheet. Rot and ruin was about a 15 year old boy named Benny, who is a survivor of a world apocalypse. Zombies have overrun the U.S and Benny's small civilization is 1 of the few populated villages known to them. Benny must get a job in order keep getting food rations from the city. What will happen when Benny decides to work in the family business of Zom killing? This was also one of my favorite books because the setting and plot are very interesting and unique. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who enjoys Sci-fi or Fantasy books, but I was such a good story that anybody would like it.

I have read a lot of really good books this year, but if I had to pick my favorite out of all of them, it has to be Allegiant. Allegiant is a dystopian novel by Veronica Roth that takes place in the future. The first book, Divergent, is about a girl named Tris that lives in a society that is divided into factions based on who you are. In this book, she must choose a faction and decide how she will live the rest of her life. I would give a summary about Allegiant, but I would have to spoil the other two books in the trilogy. It was my favorite book for a few reasons. One reason is that it was the last book of the series and told the conclusion of the series. I had been reading the series for a while and was dying to know what happened. Also, it was the most adventurous book I read, which I am very fond of. I don't like books that don't have a lot of action, and this book was just the opposite of that. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure, action, and is mature enough to handle certain things that come up throughout the book.

In "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold, is a realistic fiction novel that takes place roughly around the 1980's. The story is told by the point of view of a girl, Susie Salmon, who is sexually assaulted then murdered by her interestingly enough and creepy neighbor, George Harvey. Susie the story from her own personal heaven. Susie watches the world change any how her friends, family, and even people who haven't met her grow with her being gone. This book is my favorite because I enjoyed the plot and idea of the book. I also enjoyed the writing style, and it being very easy to write. I don’t particularly think it stands out amongst the rest of the books I've read. But it may catch eyes because it is a very critically acclaimed book though. I recommend this book to anybody who can handle series issues on a mature level. I also recommend this book to people who enjoy annoying endings, or things you wouldn’t expect.

My favorite book out of the ones I've read this year is Unwind. It is a dystopian novel by Neal Shusterman. I normally don't read dystopian novels (they're all basically the same to me, and they're pretty cliched) but this one was different. Unwind takes place in the future. As a compromise between the two differing opinions of pro-life and pro-choice people, abortion has been banned, and unwinding has been invented. Basically, when you're between the ages of 13 and 18, if your parents are unhappy with you and have decided that they no longer want you, they can choose to have you unwound. When you're unwound, they take your body apart and donate the parts to people who need them. The parts are preserved and fully functional. Yes, this seems very messed up, but in the world people live in in this book, society has brainwashed everyone to think it's okay. "You're not really dead, you're just in a divided state," people say. But that's easy to say when you're not the one scheduled for unwinding. Connor, Risa, and Lev are all teenagers, set to be unwound for different reasons. When the three kids meet during strange circumstances, their lives are thrown upside down, and their escape from the government has started. This book is so amazing. It's a part of a four-book series. It is written so well (so so so so SO well) and it is exciting and gripping and has me itching to see what happens next. Typically, in dystopian series, the books get progressively worse (You know the feeling. That disappointment when the book you've been waiting for literally sucks.) but in this series, they stay amazing, if not get even better. I think one of the reasons I like this book so much is that it seems so real. Yes, the society the characters live in is much different from today, but the way the author writes it, I often forget unwinding isn't real. Also, I am all for standing up for what you believe in, no matter the cost. THREE CHEERS FOR TEENAGE REBELLION!!!

My favorite book this year would most likely be “An Abundance of Katherine’s” by John Green. It is a realistic fiction book about a guy named Collin who has so far only dated and loved girls named Katherine, 19 girls named Katherine in fact, all spelled the same way. He is a prodigy, very intelligent, but is not yet considered a genius. He's been tracking the success rate of a relationship between two people by a theorem. He goes off with his friend Hassan on a road trip to take his mind off of his most recent break up (the recent Katherine dumped him) where they meet a tour guide name Lindsey who he starts to fall in love with slowly over time, though Lindsey has an off again on again boyfriend named Collin whom Collin and Hassan refer to TOC (The other Collin). Collin and Hassan start working for Lindsey’s mother and live with Lindsey and her mother. What will happen to the theorem? Will Colin betray his pattern of Katherine’s?

The book that stands out the most in my reading record is "ASAPScience" by Greg Brown and Mitchell Moffit. The genre is education and sci-fi. The book tells you about the most asked science questions and explains them and tells you the answers to the questions. One reason it stood out was because it taught me a lot about science and because it does it in only a few pages. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes science and to anyone who likes learning about science, this would be a really good book for you. This was one of my most favorite books that I have ever read.

Hey, Mrs. Stillatano, my favorite book this year is probably The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan, which is a fantasy book. It's about a boy named Jason who randomly wakes up on a school bus with a bunch of kids who supposedly are his classmates at a juvenile school, and can't remember anything. They were on a field trip to the Grand Canyon and encountered trouble, and even found out about things they didn't know about themselves. This was soon discovered that they were children of Greek gods and were part of a prophecy which says they were destined to be 3 of the 7 demigods to defeat the vengeful goddess of earth, Gaea. This book is one I enjoy just because of the excellent plot and the great character development, as well as fitting the character's traits together which matches with their parents. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Greek and Roman Mythology and wants an action-packed book series that will make it impossible to put the book down.
