My favorite book this year that I've read is the science fiction novel, The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. This novel is about a girl named Cassie who is just living her normal life. Then there is a big red dot in the sky that is actually an alien ship. She didn't know but her life will change forever. The aliens, people call them the others, inflict different waves of destruction like an electromagnetic pulse, infection, and so on. This is my favorite book this year (and overall) because the author gets into deep detail about how these people's lives change, by switching perspectives. Some from going from jocks to saving the family or being a no one to helping people (I do not want to spoil anything). Also, I always like how there are different perspectives. This helps because there are many big characters and its better to have the different perspectives to get to know them better. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to read a long, detailed, science fiction novel that you really won't be able to put down until the end of the novel.

My favorite book was The Raft, a realistic fiction book by S.A. Bodeen. It is about a girl named Robbie who is on a plane and it crashes. She is then stranded out on sea with a stranger. You are reading to see if she lives or not, and the challenges and the struggles in the book that she faces. One reason why I liked this book was because it did not have a slow start and there was an event on every page. This made the book more exciting and interesting to read. Another reason why was because it made you think "what would I do?" You thought if you would give up or how you would catch food a different way from her. I would recommend this book to people who like an action and survival book and overall a great read. (Even though it is a great book, there are some gory parts so you should be warned.)

The best book this year for me was a Realistic Fiction free verse poetry booked called Booked by Kwame Alexander. This book was about a kid named Nick who loves soccer, but his dad has other ideas for him. His dad wrote a dictionary with random and usually unused words and he wants Nick to pursue this with him. Nick goes on a rough journey throughout the book, but friendship will be the key. This was my favorite book because as soon as I opened the book, it immediately made me was to read more and more. Also, I loved how the author could connect sports to life lessons. That is the type of book I like to read. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy intense sports books that can change within the matter of a few pages.

My favorite book this year was the book, The Art Of Racing In The Rain by Garth Stein it is a true story but in some parts they predict when the dog was talking. This book is about how there is a dog named Enzo and his owner is Denny and his wife Eve they have a kid whose name is Zoë. Eve is getting very sick and never feels well. The parents always fight and never get along. Denny drives racecars with Enzo in the car. Zoe is always upset and sad her parents are always fighting. They aren’t the richest family so they struggle with money. Zoe luckily has a friend to hang out with, Enzo. Enzo is the kind of person who could cheer you up. Then there are his grandparents they are acholists and are not very nice and don’t support them. This was my favorite book because it shows perseverance; also I like it because the story can get very sad and happy so you don’t want to put it down. I would recommend it to anyone who likes true Storys and can read through rough times and it also very funny at parts.

My favorite book this year (and maybe ever) was Unstoppable, a realistic fiction by Tim Green. Harrison Johnson is an orphan living on a farm with harsh conditions with a dream to play football. After a freak accident he's moved to a new family and has a chance to show his football talents, but will it last forever? This is my favorite book because I love football and I love a good come back story. Plus this is the only book I've read where I have been lost in the reading. I'd recommend this book to anyone that likes action, something to pump them up, yet still have sad parts. This relates to so much people and it's an all around amazing book!

The book that I read this year that stood out to me was Wooden by John Wooden. This is basically an autobiography and it reflects on his observations being on and off the basketball court as a coach and player. This book stands out to me because it is different from anything else that I've read before, and also, it shows me that even if a book does not follow a plot line or have characters, it can still be an interesting read. I would recommend this book to anyone who would want to learn valuable life lessons and is mature enough to understand them.

The book Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson, is a realistic fiction book, about a girl, named Melinda who was at a party and something happens to her, so she calls the police to come to the party scene, and she doesn't talk about what happened to anyone. She has made fun of from people that go to her school for getting the police, so she doesn't have any friends. All her past friends have faded away from her life. I liked this book, because it taught me to talk about anything that happens, to speak up about your problems. Also the book has a character that you can relate to, even though you might not have gone through the same thing. You can relate to Melinda, because you can not talk about many things that happen in your life that you should talk about. I would recommend it to anyone who is a mature reader.

My favorite book I have read this year is The Work and the Glory, a historical fiction book by Gerald N Lund. This book is about how the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints (my church) was set up and the challenges they faced with the people who disagreed. This was my favorite book that I read this year because it was about my church and how it got set up. I learned an lot more about my church from reading the 1st out of a 12 book series. I would recommend this book to people who want to learn more about different religions.

The best book I have probably ever read was The Haunting Of Sunshine Girl, by: Paige Mckenzie. The genre is fantasy, this book is about a 16 year old named Sunshine and she moves into a new house. The minute Sunshine arrives she wants to leave, it's just something isn't right about this house, she thinks. After mysterious nights of children laughing and crying, moving her objects around Sunshine's room, Sunshine decides to use photography. She has always admired the idea of taking pictures. Meeting a boy in her grade named Nolan, Sunshine asks for some advice and without hesitation, Nolan takes that opportunity. I really enjoyed this book because it had a great adventurous/horror story to it. This book was mildly scary, so something I personally could handle. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes short reads and likes creepy/mystery books. Another cool thing about this author is that she has a youtube channel where you can watch her episodes. https://www.youtube.com/user/hauntedsunshinegirl - Watch the traiker!

This year, my favorite book I read had to be Lush by Natasha Friend. Lush is a realistic fiction novel. The main character is Sam and her father is a alcoholic which is tough on Sam and the rest of her family. She passed notes through a library book with the mysterious A.J.K. She wanted to find out who it was but that was difficult for her. She liked a boy who was much older then her and she got herself into some problems. Between boy drama, figuring out who A.J.K is, and her father's alcoholism, her life is pretty stressful. I just loved this book and how honest it was with problems a lot of families deal with. Even though I don't have these types of problems in my house, I still feel very connected to this book. I would recommend this book to really anyone. It's a quick read but there are a few mature parts.Other then that, this is one of the best books I have read.

One book that really stood out to me was the realistic fiction book The Crossover by Kwame Alexander. The Crossover is about 13 year old boy named Josh Bell and his brother named Jordan Bell who love to play the game of basketball and they idolize their father(mostly because he was a professional basketball player). The relationship between Josh and Jordan is very tight until an incident happens in a basketball game that draws them apart from each other for a while until one day when Josh was playing basketball with his father something terrible happens. Two reasons why this was my favorite is because I could relate to Josh and Jordan Bell because I love to play basketball just like Josh and Jordan. I also like how Josh and Jordan were able to come back together after the terrible incident with their father. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to play basketball because it has a lot of basketball terms.

The book that stood out most to me this year is the book I'm reading right now, Peter and the Shadow Thieves, a fantasy(I'm a huge fan of fantasy!) book written by Ridley Pearson(fave author!) and Dave Barry. I just started it today, but I absolutely love it! I'd recommend this book to anyone, especially super-Disney fans! This stands out to me because it's a longer books, and I love long books! It's had lots of adventure, and I love that it's based around Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Tinker Bell, and the Lost boys! Like I said, I've just started this book, but it's basically about Peter Pan testing out his new ability to fly. It's just about how he uses it, its perks and flaws, and how his life has changed, and, of course, Peter Pan's amazing adventures!

My favorite book that I have read this year is Twilight by Stephanie Meyer and its fiction. This book is about a girl Bella Swan moving to the small town of Forks, WA. She is 16 or 17 years old and is going to start and new school. When she gets to school she makes new friends but then sees the Cullen's sitting in the corner of the cafeteria at lunch. They are all adopted by Carlisle Cullen and his wife Esme. They are pale and their eyes are all a Amber color. Something about them is different since they are all vampires and soon in the book Bella knows their secret. This book was my favorite because it is different and I enjoy this genre of books more than others. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys a dramatic and interesting book.

This year has flown by and I can't believe it's already June. The best book I read this year was the novel Paper Towns by John Green. Paper Towns is about a girl named Margo Roth Speigelman who is extraordinary in every way in the eyes of Quentin Jacobsen. He has always admired the look in her eye, the immaculate planning and finesse that goes into her elaborate plans, from afar. So one night when she cracks open his window and invites him on an all night adventure of revenge, he goes with her. But Margo can never stay in one place too long and her disappearing for good this time puts Quentin on the adventure of a lifetime to find her. I loved this book more than any other book I've ever read. I loved the mystery element with every detail and clue so planned out. But most of all, I loved the friendship, fun, and discovering yourself in this book. It showed me that you truly always need friends by your side to truly discover who you are. Also there was the teenage humor element that I absolutely loved. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery, can handle swearing, but needs a whole lot of fun and humor to enjoy a book.

Over this year, I read many books, but my favorite had to be Rain Reign. Rain Reign, the realistic fiction novel by Ann M. Martin is about a girl, Rose, with Asperger’s syndrome, who has a love for homonyms. Even her dog’s name, Rain, is a homonym with two pairs, reign and rein. Rain is a rescue dog that Roses father found on the street and brought home to Rose years ago. Now, Rain and Rose are inseparable since Rose’s father is always at the bar. However, one night, something changes and forces Rose to leave her safe home. This book was my favorite for a multitude of reasons. For example, I enjoyed this book because I really liked the way the author had homonym pairs as the book went on. In addition, this book was my favorite because the book never slowed and it was always exciting whereas some books I read had and exciting beginning and end, but a slow middle. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes an exciting book that never slows and that likes to read about kids who have disabilities, like the book, Out of My Mind. Overall, my favorite book this year was, Rain Reign, because it was never slowing and creatively written.

My favorite book is orbiting Jupiter by Gary d. Schmidt. It's about a family that adopts a boy that has problems. He is very young and had a little girl. Throughout the book Jason tries to find his little girl with the help of his new family. This is my favorite book because it has a sad but happy ending and it's different then any of the other books I've read. I would recommend this to anyone that likes a good story.

My favorite book I read this year is, "The Body in the Woods, By: April Henry, and it's a realistic fiction book. A summary of this book, 3 teens do a recreational program to investigate crime scenes, while one of the teams is having family problems and fighting on her own, the other two fall in love. Together the three of them help each other find out what happened, to the body in the woods, who was it? find out by reading! This was my favorite book to read this year because I'm interested in crime scenes, and I enjoy feeling like I'm going on an adventure with the characters. I would recommend this book to people that like mysterious books and want suprises.

My favorite book from what I read this year would probably have to be The Selection by Kiera Cass. In this dystopian book, thirty-five girls are selected from all of the different castes (social classes) in the kingdom of Illéa to compete for Prince Maxon. Meanwhile, not all of the girls get along, and there are rebels trying to get into the palace, but it is a mystery as to what they are looking for. I think this book was my favorite because it was a break from all of the technology in the science fiction books that I read. There was almost no technology at all in The Selection. Another reason why I liked this book so much was because of the way it was written. There was something about the author’s writing style that stood out to me more than any other book. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good read. There are five books in the series, so it’s perfect to read over the summer.

This year I didn’t read many books, but out of all of them my favorite was a Japanese Graphic Novel called One Punch Man by an author who goes by the name of One. One Punch Man is a rather odd story about a man who is granted the superpower of defeating anyone with one punch and the story follows him and what he decides to do with his immense power. This book stood out to me because it was overall very easy to read, but also because it opened my eyes to a new genre of books, Manga! After buying and reading One Punch Man I decided to look at more Manga because different Manga, like graphic novels, have different art styles depending on the authors and illustrators. I also like Manga because it is different from what most people at JD read. I would recommend this book to people who are looking for an easy, fun read as it does have humorous parts to it and to people who want to step out of their comfort zone and try something new.

The book on my reading record that stands out is The Fallout by: S.A Bodeen and it is realistic fiction. The Summary is that Eli (the main character) has a family reunion with his brother and Eli has not seen him in 5 years. The whole Yanakakis family is still having bad memories about the compound. They meet a boy whose name is Tony but Eli knows there is something suspicious with him then he wonders if his father is still alive. This book is my favorite because I like when huge twists happen in books and this book had a major twist. Another reason is that I like how S.A Bodeen writes books because the background story is always good. I would recommend it to anyone who has read the Compound because if you haven't read the Compound you would not know what would be happening.

The best book I’ve read this year was Paper Towns by John Green. This book was realistic fiction. In this book, Quentin goes on an adventure with the most popular girl in school, Margo. They prank Margo’s friends who betrayed her, but the next day, she’s nowhere to be found. With help from a few friends, they follow some of her cryptic clues she left behind. One reason why this book was my favorite was because it played with my emotions. I couldn’t figure out what to feel in end, I was mad, sad, and happy. It made me crazy. Another reason why it was my favorite was because I had fun reading it. It was suspenseful but so funny, I would love to read another book like it. I would recommend it to anyone who likes mystery and clues in a book because I loved figuring out what each thing meant, and then being totally wrong, but it still made sense. The book Paper Towns was an amazing book.

My favorite book that I read this year was Eragon by Christopher Paolini. This is a fantasy book that goes along the journey of a young boy named Eragon who finds a dragon egg. The dragon egg soon hatches revealing a dragon, a species that has been extinct since the Dragon Riders. Throughout the book you follow Eragon in his journey throughout the Empire trying to stop the ruthless King Galbatorix. I like this book because of the immense detail written in the story line. Another reason I like this book is because of its plot. I find this book very intriguing and I can never seem to put it down. Not only is it my favorite read of the year but, also my favorite read of all time. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an excellent read. This book is also on the lengthier side at around 500 pages and the 3 other books in the series range from 600 to 900 pages. This may seem intimidating but this is an excellent book especially if you like Fantasy.

My favorite book I read this year would have to be a realistic fiction book called “Out of my Mind” by Sharon Draper. “Out of my Mind” is written in the protagonist’s point of who has cerebral palsy. Melody is an 11 year old girl who has a lot to say, but doesn’t have the ability to say what she wants. Melody is in a classroom at her school with peers that are like her, but doesn’t think she belongs in classroom H5. She takes the opportunity to go in a classroom with students like us. Throughout the book, Melody finds a way to speak for herself, finds new friends, and accomplish goals in school but was it a good risk to take or will she humiliate herself? This book is my favorite amongst others I read throughout the school year because it was interesting to read what it was like to have a point of view of not being able to speak or express yourself and feelings. Another reason it was my favorite book was because it was nice to see someone with a lot of obstacles throughout their life overcome them. I recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a nice book to read during the summer, it will keep you wanting to read more.

My favorite book that I read this year was See You at Harry's a realistic fiction novel by Jo Knowlings. This book is about a girl who has two brothers and a sister. Her parents own a restaurant and she is often ignored. This book was my favorite book that I read because I really felt bad for the main character and the author really described what she was going through. Also it was a good pace and nothing really happened to quickly. I would recommend this book for anyone. But, the main character is a girl so it is from a girls point of view.

My favorite book I read this year was the mystery/ realistic fiction book Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library by Chris Grabenstien. This book is about a boy named Kyle Keely who loves games especially made by Mr. Lemoncello’s company. There is a writing contest for school and the winners get to go to Mr. Lemocello’s brand new, crazy library. There the kids who won the contest have to outwit everyone else and see who can escape first. It is a crazy path to the finish with twists and turns at every corner. This was my favorite book because it made me think and try to figure things out the whole times. I had to try to decipher the clues just like the characters and made reading a lot more fun. The other reason this is my favorite book is because of all the details. It made me feel like I was actually there and was trying to escape too. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes puzzles and thinking. This is a great book.

My favorite book that I read this year was We are all made of molecules by Susin Nielsen, it is a realistic fiction book. It is about a boy who's name is Stewart and his mom died. His dad meets someone that he really likes so they decide to move in together. She has a daughter named Ashley and she really hates the idea of Stewart and his dad moving in. Stewart is okay with the idea. It is rough at first. They go though many obstacles. However, by the end of the book they are one big happy family. This book is my favorite among the other books I read because I just liked what the book was about in general. I never wanted to put in down I finished it in 2 days I was hooked. It was also very well written. The book had a lot of detail and the author described the parts of the book very well. That is why this book was my favorite out of the 24 books I read this school year. I would recommended this to a boy a girl since there are two main characters Stewart and Ashley a boy and girl. Also,if you want a quick read it is only like 200 and some pages also for mature readers as well. Overall it's a great book and I think anyone would be hooked like I was.

My favorite book that I have read this school year is Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie. Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie is a realistic fiction novel written by Jordan Sonnenblick. The novel Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie is about a normal eighth grader named Steven Alper. The boy turns out to be a phenomenal drummer who is the lead in his school’s jazz band. This story follows Jason and how he attempts to overcome family issues. One reason why I chose this book as my favorite book is because the journey that Jason took to overcome his struggles hit home with me. Another reason why I also chose this book is because it showed me that I shouldn’t take having a younger sibling for granted. Finally it showed me to also never take a loving family for granted either. I would recommend this book to anybody who would like to take a journey and think about how much family is really important to you.

During this past 2015/2016 school year I read 17 books. Out of all those books my favorite was Tiger, a realistic fiction novel by William Richter. During this book Wally, a teenage girl, get’s mixed up with crime and violence because of who her father is and she has to find some way to get herself out of the mess and maintain the few relationships she has in her life. This book stood out to me because although it was ultimately realistic fiction there were some mystery and adventure components to it which made it exciting. Along with the excitement I also couldn’t tell where the plot was headed which made me want to keep reading. I would recommend this book to almost anyone since it is an easy, enjoyable read, my only concern is that some would find it overwhelming that it is 330 pages, but it’s worth it!

This school year, I had numerous books stand out to me, because of this I will talk about several novels as to not spark jealousy between my favorite books and to reach the word count quota. My three favorite books this year were Orbiting Jupiter, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Between Shades of Gray. Orbiting Jupiter, a realistic novel by Gary Schmidt was about two young male teenagers, one whom has a child. The basis of this book was that two boys from two totally different worlds, befriend each other unexpectedly and journey through life together. It stands out to me because it paints a very real portrait on what it’s like to have a child at such a young age. I also really liked it because before this book it made me think about things that I had never thought about before. For me personally I assume that when children so young have a child it was just a rash decision that they will regret permanently. I also think society as a whole encourages that kind of thinking to stress the importance of thinking before doing. When I read this book it shed a whole new light on me that a someone who has a child at that age that they did in the book, would want their child. I would recommend this to everyone. I also enjoyed To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, a historical fiction novel. Although this is quite a bit slower than some of the dystopian novels you might see it’s very memorable. This book centers around Scout, her brother Jem and friend Dill. The book follows all three characters as they grow up and the “adventures” they go on. Looking at the bigger picture, this novel also deals with the racial biased that existed throughout the United States. Although racism definitely still exists today, it exists on a lesser level than it did such a long time ago. In the story a black man goes against a white woman in court. There is no proof that he committed the crime that he’s charged for. This book also talks about Scout’s father Atticus, who believes so strongly in something that he goes against society and defends a black man with everything he can. I (again) recommend this to everyone. My last book that I want to mention is Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. The genre of this book is historical fiction. Between Shades of Gray is partly based upon the stories Sepetys heard from survivors of the Genocide of Baltic people during a visit to her relatives in Lithuania. The book centers around fifteen year old Lina Vilkas the protagonist who is taken to a labor camp with her family in the beginning of the story. The family is separated soon after and Lina, her brother and mother journey on to a work camp in the coldest reaches of Siberia. Here they are forced to work in the cruelest conditions to survive. This story stood out to me because it was about a topic I was not familiar with. I also loved the story and the honesty of the situation they were in, and the way the author portrayed such a horrible time. I would also recommend this book to everyone.

My favorite book that I read this year would be "Running for My Life", it is an autobiography by Lopez Lomong. The story is about how he comes for having so little in Africa and living at a Refugee camp for 10 years (Lost Boys), then coming to America finding a family and home and finally training hard enough to go to the 2012 Olympic Games. He has also started a charity that raises money for children in Africa. This book was my favorite throughout the year because the detail he used to describe the events and they way he worded them made it feel like you were there and could experience the things he went through on his long journey. Another reason why this was one of my favorites was because it told me a lot about what it was like and is like in Africa and how different our two nations are. It really made me think twice about what I have and how fortunate I am. This book anyone could enjoy, some more than others, but the only thing that you should know it that it was a longer book, one with many pages and lots of words on each page. It might also be better for people that don't mind reading autobiographies.

My favorite book of the 2015-2016 school year is a realistic fiction book, Touch Blue by Cynthia Lord. It is about a community in Maine trying to keep their inland school open by adopting kids to up the population. Tess and Libby Brooks' family adopt a twelve year old boy named Aaron Spinney who isn't the warm and fuzziest person of the many people that came from the mainland on the ferry. For the amount of time that Tess's family has this adopted child they have to adjust to Aaron's habits during his stay. I really enjoy this book because I never wanted to put it down, which is rare because I surprisingly end up abandoning many books. I also liked this book because it had a plot that is very similar to most realistic fiction books but I really liked the word choice and character actions. This book stood out to me mostly because of the book jacket, it has monopoly pieces with the ocean and the Brooks house. I also enjoy this book because of the dedication page. I would recommend this book to anybody, but more towards the people who enjoy reading realistic fiction.

My favorite book that I have read this year is the realistic fiction book Out of My Mind by Sharon M Draper. A brief summary of the book is that there is a girl named melody and she is in a wheelchair, she cannot walk, talk, move her muscles the right way or write. She is very smart though. She has all these ideas and she cannot get them out of her head. She has no way to communicate with people except by using her word board which does not have all the words that she would like to say. There are many struggles that she goes through to get to the finish line but when it comes it changes her life forever. I really liked this book because it really kept me interested throughout the whole book. Another, reason that I liked it so much is because it had lots, and lots of details and also I had lots of connections to it. No one really recommended it to me but after I picked it up off the shelf lots and lots of people said that it was a good book.

One of my favorite books that I read this year was the realistic fiction book Looking for Alaska by John Green. In this book, a teen named Pudge moves into a boarding school. Upon his arrival, he becomes friends with his roommate, The Colonial, and others like Alaska. He quickly falls for Alaska, despite everyone telling him not too, and her boyfriend. After a sudden tragedy occurs, Pudge must learn to lean on his friends and be there for them during a difficult time. This stands out among the other books I read because it has sudden twists and mood turns and you never see what's coming next. Also, it is sometimes funny even during sad situations. I would recommend this to people who like books that are both funny and sad at times.

One of my favorite books that I've read this year is Paper Towns, a realistic fiction novel by John Green. In it, Q, a teenage boy, goes on a spectacular late-night adventure with his crush, Margo. However, the next morning, Margo disappears, leaving behind a trail of clues for Q. Q's desperation to find Margo only intensifies throughout the book, and at times he questions whether she is even still alive. This possibility makes Q's many sacrifices for her even more powerful.

In my reading record, one of the books that I enjoyed the most out of the ones I have read this school year is Echo by Pam Munoz Ryan. This adventure-fantasy novel is about a young boy named Otto who becomes lost in a forest, and leaves with a burning question and.. Magic? Otto plays hide and go seek with a few of his friends in a nearby pear orchard, and decides hide in the forest, and to pass time he brings a book and a harmonica, which he acquired from a gypsy. In the book, he reads about 3 sisters who were raised by a witch. He falls asleep, and when he wakes up, it's dark outside, and Otto becomes lost trying to find the pear orchard. Eventually, he sees three girls and asks them for help. The three girls magically are the sisters from the book Otto was reading, and the sisters teach him about a prophecy and the importance of the harmonica. Otto falls asleep, and when he wakes up, he is on a path that leads him back to the pear orchard. The book is gone, most likely taken by the sisters so that they may learn more about their future and if they will be able to undo a curse that was bestowed on them, and Otto is left with his harmonica and a mission. This book is very beautifully written, and it’s characters and inspiring journey draws you in quickly and won’t let you go.

I don’t have a favorite novel, so I’m going with a Realistic Fiction book that I really enjoyed reading this year called Wintergirls by one of my new favorite authors, Laurie Halse Anderson. It’s about this girl named Lia that struggles with anorexia and is hit with a wave of emotions when her bulimic best friend, Cassie dies in a motel room. During the wave of emotions she is especially filled with guilt since she hadn’t picked up the phone once out the 33 times Cassie called the night before. Lia’s life is all about control especially when it comes to her divorced parents she hates that watch like a hawk over her food and calorie intake and how much she exercises. But since she’s so emotionally out of control and losing too much weight nothing can help her not even her step- sister Emma that she absolutely adores. When Lia’s divorced parents force her back into the hospital she pushes them even farther away and Cassie’s ghost becomes closer to her than ever. Lia’s self- harm and Cassie’s voice becomes worse causing Lia to realize after passing out that she needs to change her ways and views because now she actually wants to live. This novel stands out among the rest because the author writes about topics that many kids our age struggle with or from that could relate to something now or in the future, or need to be aware of, such as maybe depression, self-harm, or social and home problems, and etc. Another reason is because it’s so well written and filled with emotion and real life situations which aren’t always the most pleasant thing but it’s raw and inspiring. I would recommend it to experienced mature readers because it does describe some disturbing scenes in great detail. But I do love this book and would greatly recommend it especially to someone who could relate to what’s happened or knows someone.

I have read many books this year that I could call my favorite. I think one that was different than many others I have read was Let it Snow, which is a realistic fiction novel by three different authors; John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle. This book stood out to me because each of the authors wrote different stories about different characters, but each of them are related. All three stories are based in Gracetown after a big snowstorm causes some havoc and a train is stranded outside the waffle house. Everything begins to go spiraling from there... and I don't wan't to give away any of the chaotic events that happen after! I recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a fun read that goes by super fast. It is also nice because you can chose to read one story at a time.

My Favorite book I read during the school year was "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" by John Boyne Realistic fiction. The story that have been going on during the WW2. The main character’s name is Bruno is a 7 years old boy who's from German family and the boy's father is general. They move to the other town to the other house. The main character and his sister upset about moving when they move to their new house the kids do not like it. Their parent do not really happy about it but the place they moved was more safer then their house. Around their house no one uses to live besides Jewish prisoners there were no kids to boy play with life got boring. One-day boy decided to cross the hill and he saw the Prisoner camp he went closer to it and met the sad Jewish boy about his age. He was looking much more older comparing to his age he use to work in Prisoner camp much more then a German boy. The represented their names about each other and talked about their life The Jewish boy said he lost his dad. The German boy said, “I would help you to find your dad he crossed under the electric wire and his Jewish friend gave him Prisoner uniform. They went to resting room after while the soldier came to prisoner’s room and said to change their cloth and they started walking toward gas chamber. The Prisoners gave back their uniforms to the soldiers. The Germans closed the door and somebody opened the top of the Gas chamber with his Gas mask and splatted the poison that time the Bruno’s parents were looking for him also the general reached the Gas chamber but it was too late to call out Bruno. I like this book because it has many action on it I liked the genre of the book also and it was during the war. Mostly I like to read these kind’s of the book. I would recommend this book to people who like to read realistic fiction books.

My favorite book this year was The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and it is a realistic fiction book. This book was about a boy named Pony boy who is the main character in this book. Pony boy lived in his parents house with his two brothers and he had many friends. This book also talks about soc’s who had problems with the greasers and when ever they see greasers they start to fight them. Also Pony is the smallest boy between is friends and his two brothers and in one part of the book Pony boy and his friend Johnny were fighting with the soc’s and something bad happened while they were fighting. This was my favorite book because we read as a class and it was an amazing book because it had some action in it and it teached me more about greasers. After all I would pretty much recommend this book to anyone but I would mostly recommend it to a boy because its point of view is by a boy.

The book that has stood out to me the most this year is The Emerald Atlas, by John Stephens, which is a science fiction novel. This book is about two kids who bounce from orphanage to orphanage after being abandoned by their parents, with reason. After their "last chance" they get sent to an abandoned orphanage owned by a mysterious man, in a town that is some how connected their parents. This was my favorite book because it has lots of tricks in it, like how it seems to just be realistic fiction at first and then turns into sci-fi mid way through. Also, it had me asking questions every page, such as why is Cambridge Falls so quiet? I would recommend it to anyone who is really curious and likes to ask questions.

I read the fantasy book called The Ranger's Apprentice by John Flanagan. It's about a boy in a medieval time struggling to find his path in his world when he finds out about the mysterious Rangers. Rangers are shrouded with mysteries and there are many rumors like rangers use black magic and such, but then he decides to become a Ranger's Apprentice. One reason this book stood out to me was the amazingly meticulous plot. Everything was tied together and there were no loose ends or questions at the end. Another thing that stood out was that it didn't rely on humor to make the readers like he book like many of Rick Riordan's books but because of the suspenseful plots he uses. I would recommend this book and the rest of the series to anyone who likes fantasy books. The books are also very short and some end with cliff hangers so anyone could read them quickly

My favorite book this year was the realistic fiction book "Auggie and me: three wonder stories" by R.J Palacio. It gives backstory on three of the supporting characters in "Wonder" also by R.J Palacio such as Julian, Charlotte and Christopher. It stood out to me, because in wonder I kind of judged julian who was mean to August, but in this book you get to read about his side of the story and really get to understand him. Also some characters in this book have a chapter in their point of view in Wonder and you get to read more about them from their point of view. I would recommend this to anyone who read wonder.

My favorite book this year was November Blues by Sharon M. Draper. This book is realistic fiction. This book is about November Nelson. Sixteen year old November has just found out she is pregnant. You'don't think that would be bad enough, with telling your parents and your friends and being judged by your classmates, but November'so boyfriend, Josh Prescott has passed away due to a pledge stunt for getting into a club goes horribly wrong. Then, as if it couldn'the get any worse, her boyfriend'so parents want to buy her baby off of her. She has to decide whether to keep the last part of Josh for herself and take care of it, or give it away. She loses and gains some friends along the way. Her tragic, heart throbbing story goes on and includes all sorts of twists and turns. Jericho is Josh'so cousin. He was there when Josh died. He is trying to cheer up by doing things like trumpet and football, things he enjoyed while Josh was alive. Travel through the stories of November and Jericho as they go through tough times. This was my favorite book because it shows a real life scenario that authors seldom write about. It stood out to me because it told a story that I have never heard before and it was really detailed and descriptions well. I recommend this book to anyone who is not afraid of a challenging read and does nother mind good books.

My favorite book of the year was Eleven Rings by Phil Jackson. It is an auto-biography. This book shows the journey that Phil Jackson took to become who he is today. I liked this book for a lot of reasons. I personally like biographies and sports so this was a perfect match for me. I also like this book because i want to be a coach some day, and this taught me what there is out there. I would recommend this book to people who like sports and journeys throughout people's lives.

My favorite book this year was Eragon, a fantasy novel in a four part series by Christopher Paolini. In this series basically there is a poor farmboy named Eragon who is hunting to get food for his family for the winter and stumbles across a dragon egg. After trying to sell the egg unsuccessfully, the egg hatched for Eragon. Eragon and the dragon bond and eventually he names her Saphira. Then an old story teller named Brom gets Eragon to leave his farm house because these weird evil turkey, people, devils things come out of nowhere and attack Eragon. (It’s a little confusing at first, also this story doesn’t take place on Earth). So Eragon embarks on a journey to hunt the Ra'zac (the turkey, human, devil things) because now they have left. Then Eragon meets the resistance fighting the evil kings Galbatorix and joins them and things just get messy and confusing from there. This is my favorite book series to me because it is the ideal plot to me and is so well written that it had my crying at the end of the series because it was over. I would recommend this book and series to anyone who wants to finally read the book they have been missing from their lives and sorely need. I’m half joking there, But what I’m trying to say is that I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
