This week, think about the book you are reading and who your main character (protagonist) is. If the protagonist of your book was going to write a memoir, what would it be about? What would the focus be? What would be the "so what?" Please write 100 words or more to answer this question. This will require you to think outside the box a little bit, but I believe that you can do it!

Hello, Mr. Kerwin! I’m reading Airman by Eoin Colfer, and the protagonist’s name is Conor Broekhart. Conor is around 12 to 16 years old, and his life changes forever the night a marshall murders Conor’s tutor as well as the king of the Saltee Islands, a cluster of sea rocks near the Irish Coast. Conor is then branded a traitor and shipped off to the prison isle of Little Saltee. I think if Conor were to write a memoir, it would be about either the time he saved the princess from an exploding castle tower with a flag OR that whole night when his king and tutor were murdered with the tutor’s own Colt Peacemaker. The “so what?” would most likely be “You can’t control what you keep and what you lose; you only get to choose where to go from there.”

Hey Mr. Kerwin! I’m still reading Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I believe the most important main character is Tris (Beatrice) Prior. I believe her memoir would be about when she enters the Weapons Lab, which is full of death serum, and the feeling that comes over her, and tempts her to just go let everything go, even though she has a purpose and mission to complete. It would be focusing on just how tempted she was to just give in, yet she kept going, and kept thinking about what her parents would say if she just gave up and let everyone that she cared about down. I believe the lesson would be simply, to never give up just because it would be the easier choice to make.

I would recommend anything by Anderson; she's an excellent YA lit author. She is a local writer, too! Syracuse University professor and researcher. Her novel Speak was based on F-M High School, I believe.

There are few greater writers of the 20th Century than C.S. Lewis. He's one of my favorites. While I like his fantasy, I especially enjoy his non-fiction and philosophy.

my character Reynie from my book would write a memoir is about his old family or what he would have liked to do in the past or what he have done in the past. I guess the so what would be him and his old family but he wouldn't have remembered clearly of his family for he was a baby. and i guess the main focus is that he wants to be reunited with his family but he cant because he doesn't know how and who they are. I believe this is all i have to say and all that i know so far because i haven't finished the book yet. anyways I can't wait for outsider's day and i can't wait to dress up.

Hey, Mr. Kerwin, my current independent reading book is "The Son of Neptune" and the main protagonist is Percy Jackson. If he were to write a memoir, it would probably be about him as a demigod. As a demigod in the book, it seems to be hard work and it took him a lot of time to get good at it. The "So What?" would probably be that becoming something great at something takes a lot of training and is still hard work even if you are good. That's the best I have so far, but I think it would be different if I was a little bit farther into the book.
