I'm reciting the poem "Stopping By The Woods On A Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost. I choose this because I love the rhyme scheme and I feel as I can express the feeling of the setting. I will use a soft and quiet tone, but at the end I might pick up the pace. I guess the rhyme scheme might be a bit tricky at first, but I could get used to it.

The poem I am doing is Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening the poet is Robert Frost. I chose this poem cause I have seen the poem before and I had always wanted to recite. The tone I will use is a low voice. The third stanza was pretty hard.

I am going to recite "Because I could not stop for Death" by Emily Dickinson. I chose this poem because it has an underlying tone of mystery that I was intrigued by, and I wanted to understand each of the lines and what they truly mean. The poem also has an interesting perspective on life, and death as well. I am planning on using a calm yet eerie tone, because it is written as though the protagonist is at peace with her death. Nothing is written in an urgent way, only calm realization and acceptance of death, which is kind of scary to think about in a way. Plus, I mean, it is a ride towards eternity in a carriage with Death himself, so it's not exactly supposed to be bubbly and happy. What is difficult in memorizing this particular poem is the confusing language scattered in some places and when stanzas switch from rhyming to not rhyming.

For my poem recitation next week, I will be reciting When you are Old by W. B. Yeats, otherwise known as William Butler Yeats. I chose to recite this poem because I found a pattern of rhyming throughout the poem. When a poem rhymes, I often memorize it better. The pattern I saw was the first line last word and fourth line last word rhymed. Also the second line last word and third line last word rhymed. For example:

For the poem recitation next week I will choose stopping by the woods on a snowy evening by Robert Frost. I like Robert Frost and I really like how he wrote this one poem. Also, it is not too long but not to short. Lastly, I have recited two poems by Robert Frost so I know how he writes and can imagine the tone that he uses so it is more comfortable. . I will speak calm and not very loud but not too soft. I will also stare at one point and be zoned out. Some challenges I will face is that this is the longest poem I have memorized so may be a little difficult. Also, Some of the language is hard. For example, he says with easy wind and downy flake. That is the hardest line for me. This will be my poem that I will recite.

Im going to be reciting the poem stopping by woods on a snowy evening, by Robert Frost. I choose this poem because it was my grandpa's favorite poem and, he passed of cancer 6 years ago, he was my best friend. Also I like how it is short and succinct but has great details. Another thing is that I like the rhyming pattern. I am going to recite the poem with a confused voice and I may stop for more expression. I have troubles with the 3rd stanza but the 1st one is my favorite. the 3rd stanza has akward wording.

The poem I chose was Stopping by woods on a snowy evening by Robert Frost. I chose this poem because I already had it memorized the day we got it so it would be easiest. The tone and expression that I will use when I recite the poem is serious but not depressing. Some of the challenges of memorizing this poem is in the third stanza it is hard to transition in the third line.

I picked the poem Stopping by woods on a snowy evening by Robert Frost to recite to the class next week. I chose this poem because it seemed interesting. The title got my attention. I just thought it was a cool title. It made me want to pick it. It was also by Robert Frost and I know some of the other poems that he has written as well. After I read it, it seemed like a good poem to recite to the class because it was not short and it was not to long. It was also challenging at the same time. When I recite this poem I will probably use a non serious tone because it isn't a serious poem but also not all perky. So sort of in the middle. Some of the challenges with memorizing this poem is the last two lines of the 3rd stanza its kind of wordy and sort of difficult especially the last line in the 3rd stanza.

I'm going to be reciting Alone by Maya Angelou. I chose this poem because when I first read it, it really had an impact on me and the message seemed so powerful. I really hope I can portray that in my recitation and I plan to use a sad, powerful, and even slightly angry tone to give the poem justice. One of the challenges is the "but and no nobody's" and also finding the right tone for the last stanzas of the poem.

The poem that I am going to recite next week is Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare. I chose this because I like how the ending was a metaphor for the whole poem. I also liked the way the words flowed without rhyming. The last reason why I chose this poem was because I thought it would be more of a challenge with the old words. The tone/expression that I am going to use will be a peaceful, distant way of speaking, almost like Shakespeare was remembering something while he was writing it. There are definitely some challenges with reciting this poem. One of them is the strange words that are scattered throughout it, such as “hath”, “shall”, “thou”, and “owest”. It can be hard to remember these because we don’t use them anymore in our everyday conversations. Another thing that is going to be hard is the order of the words. In the sixth line, the words are said in this order, “And often is his gold complexion dimm’d” instead of what we are used to which would be, “And his gold complexion is dimmed often”.

For my poem I chose Walking by Woods on a Snowy Evening, by Robert Frost. This piece really stood out to me because it seemed magical and peaceful and even a little haunting, yet beautiful. Robert Frost's poem reminded me of my winter night walks with my dog and mom, if you have ever laid down in the snow and just looked up at the sky and listened to your surroundings then you might be able to determine what i'm talking about. This poem has a very beautiful meaning. The very last verse says "And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep." At first I didn't understand what that meant, but then I realized Frost was speaking about death. I still have yet to figure out what the rest of the poem means, but I have a feeling I will be surprised when I do. I think in order to do this poem you have to have a calming and soothing voice, just like the falling snow. You should have a lower voice at some parts of the story when there is a verse that seems to be a little darker. Robert Frost definitely demonstrates this, as the video you most recently saw in ELA class. I think the hardest part of memorizing this poem will be the rhymes. Sometimes I may think of another word that might rhyme with "know" (in line: 1), at first I thought the second verse was "His house is in the village snow" instead of "though". This poem is not very long, in my opinion, I like to memorize it bye focusing on one paragraph at a time. I am really excited to preform this, which I'm hoping to do so in song. Good luck everyone, and happy memorizing!

I am reciting, "When you are old," by W. B. Yeats. I chose to recite this poem because I like the length of it and the message that it is sending to the people, that you should never forget the good you did when you are older. the tone i will use for my recitation is happy with sad memories, something that makes you remember the memories that make you happy. Some challenges with memorizing this poem is the wording such as, "Murmur, a little sadly, how love fled and paced upon mountains overhead."

The poem that I am reciting for the class is Stopping By The Woods On A Snowy Evening by Robert Frost. I chose this poem because of the length and message in the poem. The tone/ expression that I will use is serious and a even tone. The challenge is memorizing the third stanza because the words are put differently.

The poem I chose to recite is “Because I Could Not Stop For Death” by Emily Dickinson. I chose this for a few or reasons. First of all, I chose this because when I get nervous, I get serious, and since this has a serious tone, it works out. Also, I've heard about Emily Dickinson from reciting “Hope is the Thing With Feathers” and other poems by her. Lastly, I chose this because I can relate to this the most. I mean, I'm not dead right now [obviously], but I have been to a wake and a funeral before. The tone in this poem is sad, serious, somber, and you would say the words quietly [You wouldn't scream any of the words]. Some of the challenges I've had is to memorize some of the words that I don't use very much like tippet or cornice.

The poem I am going to recite in class on Wednesday is Because I could not stop for death (712). Emily Dickinson is the poet of this poem. I chose this poem out of the packet because it seemed like one of the harder poems. I also picked Because I could not stop for death because I didn’t think as many people would be doing it. I will use a serious tone when I am reciting my poem, I will also have a straight face. In the last part of the poem it says “I first surmised the horses’ heads” this part of the poem is the most confusing for me.

The poem that I will be reciting for the class next week is Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost. I chose this poem because I like the way Robert Frost writes his poems. His poems always have a message or a piece of advice that any one can relate to or follow. I will be reading the poem in a normal volume, but in a kind of sad voice. I do not think there will be problem with trying to memorize the poem. My greatest challenge will be presenting the poem with the right expression, tone, and speed.

I will be reciting the poem Alone by Maya Angelou next week. I choose this poem because I like the words in the poem/stanzas like no one can make it out here alone, and also it doesn't have so many confusing words like Jabberwocky. Wow even the name sounds confusing. Some challenges in this poem are memorizing the little words like saying got instead of have (On 3rd stanza on the 5th line). I will use a serious and dramatic tone for when I recite my poem. I can't wait until next week to recite Alone.

For my poem recitation I am doing Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost. I chose this poem because I like the poet, Robert Frost. Also, I think poems that rhyme are a little bit easier for me to memorize. With this particular poem, I am having trouble memorizing the last two lines of every stanza except for the last stanza because they are the same. I am having the hardest time remembering the last to lines of the third stanza, “The only other sound’s the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake.” In the first stanza second line, I keep saying “His house is by the village though” instead of “His house in the village though” Except for those few things, it is pretty easy for me to memorize this poem.

The poem I chose to recite is Alone by Maya Angelou. I chose this poem because I was drawn to the song, but I would never sing it in front of the class, so I decided to speak it instead. I also liked how it wasn't happy, because it would be hard for me to sound happy while I'm really nervous. The tone I use will have to be somber, sad, and a little angry. The poem is about the bad financial situations Maya was in, and a little anger for the people who had so much money comes through. In memorizing this particular poem, the challenges will be in remembering when certain words switch, and when they switch. Also, I'll be challenged in adding drama, because I'm not very good at it. Despite the challenges, I really like this poem, and I'm looking forward to the recitation!

The poem I am reciting is Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare. I chose it, because I liked the poem and thought it would be cool for me to be able to memorize it. Since it's a love poem I need to have a bright and happy expression. I can smile during parts of it. For my tone I was thinking of doing a Scottish accent. Also change the speed and loudness of some parts. For my poem it's hard for me to memorize the middle of the poem, because it uses words like trimm'd. The language of Shakespeare's poems are hard to get right too. I'll try to do my best at reciting this poem.

In class I will be reciting, "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" by William Wordsworth. I chose to recite this poem because it was one of the more happier poems we could choose from. Since I'm a very happy and positive person the other poems didn't quite fit my personality. Another reason is that I enjoy reading poems that are about nature and are on the more positive and happy side of life. When I recite this poem on Wednesday I will use a calm, relaxing, happy, but serious tone and expression. While I've been practicing this particular poem I found knowing when to take a breath/pause a little challenging. I also had a little trouble remembering when there's an I, but, and, space, or a.

For this poetry recitation I chose "Because I could not stop for Death (712)" written by Emily Dickinson. I choose this poem because, since I have a really hard time with memorization, this poem still gave me a challenge but I found the rhyming helpful. While reciting this poem I will use a very mournful tone because it is about a person's journey to death. So far in my memorization I haven't found a specific part that is more difficult from the rest. Having said that, I am having a heard time memorizing this poem.

The poem I am doing for my recitation is Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare and I chose it because, in all honesty, I didn't want to do something that my other classmates were doing, I wanted to be different. I also chose it to challenge myself. The tone of the poem should be serious, but not to serious. Yes, it's about love, but it shouldn't be too loving. One challenge, in particular, about memorizing this poem is the wording. There are lots of old english words, "thou and thee and thy," and I have to memorise where they are in the poem and not mix them up.

The poem I’m going to recite is When You Are Old by W. B. Yeats. I chose this poem because it caught my eye when I looked through the packet. Although it’s somewhat short, it seemed like it could fit my natural tone. The tone sounds happy, but calm and my expression could vary throughout the piece. Starting with a light and calm face then continuing to grow happier. Some particular challenges in memorizing this poem is that the word love or loved is used a lot, so it’s hard to memorize exactly where. Also, it’s hard to memorize the order of some lines. For example,”and dream of the soft look your eyes had once,”I always accidentally say,”Once had,”

I am reciting alone by maya angelou. I chose this poem because I really liked it and at first see that it is long then when you start memorizing it becomes easy. I would an emotional tone because when you say it becomes emotional. Also I didn't really have some challenges memorizing this particular poem.

I am going to recite Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare. I chose this poem because it is in iambic pentameter and I can be extremely dramatic when reciting it. One challenge with memorizing this poem will be that it is in iambic pentameter, which is not how people usually talk. In this poem I will use a British accent.

The poem I will be reciting for class is "Sonnet 18" by William Shakespeare. I chose to recite this particular poem because it seamed really cheerful and happy. I didn’t want to recite a sad or dreary poem. Plus, I’ve really never looked at a Shakespeare poem before and I wanted to try to recite one. For some reason, though, the first line of this poem seemed familiar to me. For the tone and expression for this poem, I will be happy and bright because that seems to fit this poem the most. Some of the challenges with memorizing this poem are the words. A lot of the words in this poem are old English words like ‘thou’ and ‘hath’. They aren’t normally used today in America so it will be tricky to memorize them. Also, the ways the words are placed around the poem are difficult to read aloud.

The poem I am choosing to recite is Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost. I chose to recite this poem because it relates to our current weather and season. In addition, I also chose this poem because I like the way he writes his poems because he rhymes yet makes the poem sound sophisticated so that it does not sound like a nursery rhyme. With this poem, the tone while reciting it should be slow and in a soft voice so that each word can be pronounced. In this particular poem, the challenges for me are the last two lines of the second and third stanza. Also, some small words mix me up like saying “might” instead of “must”. Lastly, I mix up the phrases “these are” and “are these” in the first stanza. Overall, I feel this poem might be a little tricky to memorize, but I think the recitation will turn out good.

The poem I am going to recite for class next week is "Sonnet 18" by William Shakesphere. I chose this poem because I thought it had a nice cheerful ring to it, but also has a serious tone to it, for example in the line "but thy enternal summer shall not fade", and I wanted to challenge myself a bit. Some of the challenges with memorizing this particular poem is the remembering what line comes after a line, because often when I am practicing and/or memorizing my poem I have trouble remembering the beginning of the lines, but once I remember the beginning I usually can say the line more easily.

Next week, I will recite the poem "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost. I chose this poem because I like many of Robert Frost's works, and because of the way he makes the poem flow easily with a dreamy tone. I also chose this poem because I can relate to it; I also like winter and the beauty it brings to towns and in this case, forests. Sometimes I wish I could just stop to take it all in. "But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep." For this poem, I will use a quiet, peaceful tone, going slow most of the time, then speeding up at certian points. One challenge in memorizing this poem is getting all the lines said in the right order. To be more specific, sometimes two lines rhyme, but the second line is in another stanza, so sometimes the line from the 2nd stanza can be said accidentally in the first stanza because the two lines rhyme.

The poem that I will be doing for the class next week is “stopping by woods” by Robert Frost. I like this poem because I like the story. I like the story because when I imagine it I imagine a peaceful white clean perfect winter wonderland and that is my favorite place to be ever so I really like this poem. Another reason that I like this poem is because I feel that is easy to memorize because it is not to long but also not to short and it is the perfect length. The tone that I will use is serious and deep. I like how Robert frost reads it which is with a serious tone and dragged out some key words but other times he is fairly fast. Some challenges I faced when memorizing it is the third and fourth lines in most stanzas but then I figured out how to say the words and now I don’t get tripped up on them.

The poem I decided to choose to recite was "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost. I chose this poem because I knew the rhyme scheme would help me memorize the poem easier. I also chose this poem because it was a pretty short poem for me to recite. Another reason I chose this poem was I missed out on the chance to recite his first poem in the beginning of the year. The tone or expression I should use is a soft or calm tone when I recite it and not like a robot or monotonous/boring. Also sometimes through out the poem I might have to speed up, slow down, make my voice higher, or make it lower at different spots in of the poem. Some of the challenges memorizing this particular poem is the third stanza especially the last two lines of the third stanza.

I'm doing the poem [i carry your heart with me(i carry it in] by e.e. cummings. I chose this poem because I really like the words he chose to put in the poem, and I like how the letters look. I love how the lowercase letters look with that poem, and I don't really like the big letters so I really liked how he used all lower case letters. I am going to recite his in a really nice but quiet way, because I don't think that this poem was meant to be yelled or loud for everybody to hear- only the people who are listening can hear it that way. The super hard part about memorizing this poem is when he says "i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)" at the end because everything else is "i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)", so is super confusing! And some of it isn't really right grammar in my mind, but I'll defiantly have to practice! The volume is kind of an issue for me.... Okay, a big issue! I just need to project my voice so people can actually hear me.

I picked "Because I could not stop for death" by Emily Dickinson as my poem to recite. I choose this because, personally I liked the word choice and rhythm which I thought would lead to the poem being easy to memorize. In which case I could put more tine and effort into the tone and actions rather than be stuck on memorizing. I will have too use a serious expression. Some of the challenges of memorizing my particular poem is that the word choice is hard to comprehend and I had to go back several times to make sure that I was pronouncing the words correctly. In this poem there are also a couple instances where a word might sound more accurate but it's not what's written or where there's a word you just automatically switch out. For example, where there is "The roof was scarcely visible" I automatically switched scarcely with barely.
